I found to be a helpful little book and have used it when visiting churches. It gives a clear description of what the symbols are. It would benefit from being in colour. I would also have liked a brief explanation as to why a particular symbol was used or chosen in preference to another. All in all a good book to start with.

A host of short items on the symbols associated with a wide range of saints (about 175) and other emblems to be found in Christian and church art and architecture. It is a good basic reference book on this subject and is a master piece of summary giving a 100 word account of a line drawing of an emblem.

Wanted some iconography fit for my upcoming tattoo. Here I found Mother Mary's 1st Century monogram. That'll be the one -its perfect.Otherwise, a lovely book to own, with its emphasis on the Saints (but not yet St. Bernadette Soubirous of Lourdes).

Succinct but good value for price and information is hard to find from other sources.

Does what it says on the cover! A great little book featuring the signs and symbols of the best known saints and other Chrstian symbols. Even though the illustrations are in black and white, the descriptions of the colours make it easy to reproduce them in colour. Recommend.
