Great quality long line
This longline is perfect. Heavy duty clasp to attach to collar. The line itself is really lightweight, but easy to stand on and will stop the dog when necessary. Really good quality and worth the money.

Just the job
Having used this item for some time, I feel qualified to give an honest verdict on it. Reasonably priced and very well made. My dog is a three year Spanish mastiff weighing in at 42 Kg. He was a rescue and came to us at the age of 13 months old. Never trained in any way and was a "street dog" before being rescued from the Spanish 'kill' kennels. He took to the use of this line very quickly. Being very slightly elastic it gives just enough 'give' as opposed to the black, flat, nylon leads. It is comfortable on the un-gloved hands, is easy to wash when muddy and since buying it some months ago is still in very good shape bearing in mind that my dog is taken out twice a day for about 2-3 hours, cold or warm, wet or dry. On a safety side (for the handler) the round line is much better than the flat nylon type which I used before. The black nylon line needs very careful use. On one occasion that type of line sliced into my fingers when my dog decided to be off after a squirrel. I've never had that sort of problem with this line. I can thoroughly recommend this line to anyone who would rather have direct control of the lead as opposed to the self-retracting type (and I have both types).

Ok for a back up while training. Not a great tracking line
Ok line for walks with dogs who cannot be off lead or a back up while teaching recall but not good for tracking/mantrailing or any activity where you're going to be letting out line by letting it slide through your hands because of the way the fabric is woven in a tube it makes it twist around and knot up really easily so you're reeling back in a tangled mess when you catch up to the searching dog.

Good quality and really useful length
We've only used this twice but really love this long lead for our 1 yr old labrador. We're training her to come back when we call her and this lead is great because it's light yet sturdy, allows her to go quite far, sniffing around and enjoying her walk, but we can keep control of her too and gradually train her to come back. It blends in the colour of the ground so our dog doesn't notice it much. You can use it to tug at your dog when he/she doesn't want to come back. It's also got a bit of 'give' / spring in its material compared to the flat type long leads. It's soft to hold and doesn't seem to get dirty too quickly so far.

Use this everyday as a lead
Excellent Training/leadHave a very energetic Cocker who is out with me all day on farms.Tried the flat, tape similar leads but they rapidly wear and become frayed and tatty. Have used this for 6 months and there is no sign of wear or fraying on the rope. The dog enjoys the freedom of being able to roam, without taking off after game birds, particularly at this time of year. Also is very useful , as a previous reviewer commented, when taking the dog swimming. No more ending up on opposite banks or half a mile down stream.Have only ended up with one rope burn on back of a leg.Do get asked when meet other dog walkers where I got such a good long fromUpdate, 26th Nov. After 1400 miles of walking since Buying this the outer layer has worn thru. HAs been used on fields with growing crops, harvested stubble, and Welsh hills and mountains. Has lasted more than twice as long as previous flat leads. Lead is still usable but not certain how stronger the inner core rope isHave just ordered another one. Still gets 5 stars, but would be nice if in a brighter colour

Unsuitable for small dogs & poor design for halving
Bought as a training lead for my chihuahua.Found this too heavy for him as a small dog and to be unsuitable but I’m sure it would be great for bigger dogs as looks quite robust. The mechanism to half the lead length is poor & comes with no instructions. I found halving the lead meant literally diving in two and clipping the loop onto the collar/harness which results in you loosing the use of the lead handle, which wouldn’t make for a good walking experience and defeats the object of having a handle.I will be returning this item due to unsuitability and not fit for purpose for my personal circumstances but don’t that let deter you if you have a larger dog as it does seem well made.

Got a young pup who you don't feel comfortable letting of the lead yet
Got a young pup who you don't feel comfortable letting of the lead yet ? Want to do some distance training ? Want to let the dog have a bit of freedom in an area where it has to be "on a lead" ? DON'T buy a retractable lead get one of these instead. Retractable leads encourage pulling, are made of thin cord which cuts the hands when hauled in and are difficult to haul in, in a crisis. This long lead works brilliantly , yes it gets wet and mucky and this may put you off BUT it allows the pup to have some freedom whilst being under control all the time and is a great aid when training recalls ,stops etc, Some people use a long tape but I think rope is much more comfortable and I would recommend it.
