ACCUSHARP Knife Sharpener, Aluminium, Grey, 22.9 x 10.2 x 2.5 cm

I bought this on the recommendation of a long-term butcher who wished he'd had one many years ago as it would have saved him many hours of sharpening. I've had mine now for about 6 years and not more than 2 hours ago did I reverse the blades, therefore giving me a potential 12 years use. All of my knives are top quality, including some Honshu steel, Solingen steel and original Sabatiers. One easy sweep of the Accusharp Pro is all that 's needed for a perfect edge.

Great sharpener to keep knives razor sharp. It's important for me my job as a chef. Very pleased with the results. I highly recommend this sharpener as I've had many in the past but none as good as this one.

I purchased this knife sharpener in Jan 2021 for a total of £12.19. My purpose was simple, to sharpen a somewhat dull kitchen knife that I purchased from Amazon about a year and a half ago. I maintained this knife with my honing steel up until now. Firstly, I think it's good to understand that the average person should only need to sharpen their knife about 1-2 times per year depending on the steel quality. After sharpening, the knife should be maintained using a honing steel until it dulls again. Now, on to the sharpener! Initially, I (like many?) was perturbed by the design of this sharpener. You want me to face the knife edge upward and move my hand along the blade? Like really? Is this the Darwin awards? Despite my initial skepticism, the reviews had me sold. So I bought it. It appears well constructed and is very simple to use. Holding the knife by it's handle and pressing the back of the knife blade firmly on the counter (you do NOT want this to slip!) apply light even-pressured strokes to the length of the blade. I used about 6 passes on my knife and the result was fantastic. After sharpening, you will notice fine metal shavings on your knife, be sure to clean this thoroughly prior to food preparation! I also note that the sharpening inserts are reversible, so when the existing inserts are worn down, if you reverse the inserts, you have new sharpening inserts. Think of this like the reversible blades in Stanley knives. Bottom line: Maybe it's the day and age that we live in, but I am astounded when a product actually delivers what it says on the box. This does exactly that. If you're looking for a knife sharpener, I can highly recommend this.

This is to replace my old one. It is very smart and sharpens tools as well. I've been using Accusharp sharpeners for over 20 years, having first bought an Acusharp in the USA when I was running my Restaurant. I was very happy when I realised they were available in the UK. I wouldn't be without it.

I will not buy another brand or type of knife sharpener again, and I have been buying them for family members. an easy to use product that delivers a super sharp edge to my home kitchen knives. I even take it with me when travelling, I am leaving Airbnb places with sharper knives than when I arrived.... :-)
