A little muscle needed to install, but...
My first time using this quick-release chain link design from Shimano. But the premise is straight forward and ultimately simple. You just have to use a bit of force to set the link in place.

Chain Great, Trek Specifications Not
The chain was great right out of the box. Unfortunately, it was too long. Trek's own website specifications for my model of bike was wrong. When I looked at the same bike model on clearance in a different color, the specifications listed a totally different chain. Too late for me. Trek seriously doesn't know what size chain they are putting on their own bikes? Amateur hour over there. If you order the right model, I'm sure you will be satisfied with the quality.

This chain works great as a replacement for the 2022 Trek dual sport 3.

does not play well with ultegra r8000
I'm always skeptical of people blaming bike components in reviews because most often it's user error. In this case I can assure you its not.I work on bikes, I own way too many, I do all of my maintenance and have been for years. This chain was an immediate source of issue on my ultegra r8000 road bike.I decided to give it a shot because I do a lot of weekly mileage on the road bike lately, and figured id be happy to take a weigh penalty if it means cheaper, heavier and perhaps more durable chains to wear through. In this case its a no go.Right off the bat there was noticeable front mech rub. Which tells me, all other things being equal, this chain is slightly wider than the ultegra alternative? Seems odd since its an 11 speed. But it rubs where it didn't before. But the greater annoyance is the index issues ive been having.I've ruled out all variables. Ive re indexed. I deinstalled, cleaned, re installed and tightened my cassette.I swapped out the mech hanger with a fresh one I keep around to run controlled testing such as this. I even tried inverting the whole chain just to see if it might miraculously run better upside down. Cables are pretty fresh, installed in the fall. It's not those.I then swapped out to a different 11 speed cassette from another bike to make sure it wasn't cassette wear.I also regularly check my chain for stretch, so I was pretty sure it wasn't that.I degreased the factory grease and applied fresh lube.No luck. Shifting was perfect before and now it's off.It might be good enough for some, it runs, it shifts, but there is a slight hookup in downshifting and upshifting in a couple of the central cogs. It gets there, but there is a delay that was not there before.I've never had issues with r8000, I find it to be an impeccable system. With that said, my suspicion is that this chain, while marketed for 11 speed, is a budget version and perhaps 105 or maybe some 11 speed Mtb Shimano systems have a slightly higher tolerance than r8000? I'll be purchasing a new ultegra chain and will never make this mistake again.Obviously this review should not be a poor reflection on the seller here on Amazon. But shame on shimano for letting this product get through QC without realizing its not ideal for r8000.
