Weird sizing
Originally I bought smoke in 7.5 which is my size in every shoe I’ve ever bought, but they were extremely big, not just long but wide. I don’t think they were made properly because the insoles were really painful, I got foot and knee pain for like two days after wearing them for a short while. I also had to wear two pairs of socks and they were too loose in my heel and ankle area still. The shoes had a weird fit, loose in the toes, like super wide and the shoe would bunch in the front, then very tight over the middle of foot then super loose again In the ankle. Even with the two socks my foot slipped out. Tightening the laces which is hard and annoying to begin with only made the top of my foot hurt and didn’t help the problem much. I ordered a size 7 in the taupe color and they ended up being too short, my toes were hitting the end just standing, and my feet felt squeezed. I then ordered a size 7.5 in the taupe color and the size is almost perfect except they are a little narrow in the toe box in one foot, which I can deal with. So I’m not sure why 7.5 in one color fit and another color was like wearing two sizes too big. And no I didn’t accidentally order a wide and I double checked the size inside the shoe Lol. So all this to say I do like the shoe but you must replace the inserts because they are horrible and painful (I’ve never had to replace inserts on any shoe ever except this one). I like that the shoe is very grippy on the bottom. Way better than regular sneakers. They are like I said hard to lace and unlace but you get used to it. And no they are not waterproof and this listing does not claim that they are so don’t expect them to be. Just be careful with sizing because I feel like there’s no quality control in their sizing based on my experience and other reviews I read. One last thing the smoke color is a cool tone gray with blue colored panels which looks better in the picture than it did in person. The taupe looks way better and has a neutral tone which is what they should be offering more options of. I don’t know why everything for women has to have blue, purple, pink highlight colors. I just want a neutral color like men are offered.

Toe box too wide. Hard deck provides little cushioning. Laces impossible to adjust.
I like the way the outer heel extends up the center back, to prevent heel becoming detached.I don't like the fact that the laces are all but unadjustable, and there is very little finger room to grasp them and pull to tighten.Tightening the laces isn't easy, & loosening them is equally difficult. The struggle to move a lace 1/2" along actually hurts my fingertips. As such, taking these shoes off and on is inconvenient. It's much more difficult than it should be. The laces must be tightened and loosened one hole at a time, and this is impossible to do towards the toe.The stiff shoe body should provide excellent support, and would, except that tightening laces is such a difficult and time consuming problem, that I tend to leave them as they are, which allows my foot to slide further into that "roomy" toe box and creates a 2-finger gap at the heel. Even going down hill shouldn't allow this shift.FIT IS NOT LIKE MY REGULAR SIZE!At home, I spend most of my time barefoot or in my stocking feet. Over a lifetime, my toes have fanned out and I hate the feeling of pinched or confined toes I get from many shoe styles I have tried. , including my last pair of Merrill hiking shoes. This excessive room at the toe of the Moab 2 is a surprising feature, one I wish I had investigated further before I ordered these. I read "roomy toe box" & thought "that's me!"Over all, my feet are a medium width, though I have sometimes purchased a wide if the toe box of a shoe I like seems confining. After my experience with Merrel hiking shoes in a size 10 1/2, I expected a much better fit in these size 11, as well as more support and comfort built into these shoes. The lack of padding on the deck of the shoe is reallydisappointing. The purchase of an insert should provide more foot comfort, better arch support, and minimize back and forth movement in the shoe, which these shoes lack right out of the box.The last pair of Merrells I purchased were a size 10 1/2. They were too tight in the toe and a bit too short, giving me blisters on the tips of my toes just walking around the house. I expected these size 11 to be a good fit. They aren't.To tighten up the fit, I purchased "Performance insoles" rated to add maximum cushioning and medium arch support. I placed them under the rigid plastic Merrell removable insoles. Although the ( Sof Sole Insoles Women's AIRR Orthotic Support Full-Length Gel Shoe Inserts) provide additional arch support and some cushioning, I only see gel in the heel, and my heel still still isn't secure, in the shoe, though it is not 2 fingers forward anymore. It still moves up and down in the shoe, and with the added insoles there is less ankle support as the additional arch is raising the foot. . I do hope that the shoes tighten up around the foot once they're broken in. The added insoles are easy to remove. The vibram outer soles seem like they will be very good for the terrain I visit, and may be the best feature of this shoe.Lastly, the color doesn't really look like it does in the listing photo. The leather is much lighter, sort of an antique white suede. Not the grreyish color of aluminum I expected. The accent color is green, not blue as it appears in the listing. That doesn't concern me at all, but I thought it worth mentioning. These are really well made, and could be outstanding shoes on someone's feet, but unfortunately, not on mine. If I hadn't been wearing them around the house to break them in, I'd send them back. Out of the box, they fit like my Mom's size 12 W she bought when her feet were swollen. And my normal shoe size is 11. These Moab2 are at least 1/2 size larger than that, and IMO, they are more like a 12.

I love these shoes.
I have had these shoes for 10 months now and even with everyday use they still look amazing. I wear them on walks daily and in the yard to yard work and they keep up like champs. They never needed any breaking in and never caused any problems such as aches or blisters. I have gone on 7 mile walks in these shoes without any problems. The fit is as expected, I wear between a 7 and 8 depending on the brand and got a 7.5 fit perfect. The toe box leaves room for my toes to wiggle a bit which I like. The cusioning I find adequate for daily use. Overall I will purchase again in the future and recommend them to others.

Serves the purpose
Bought these specifically for my morning 2-mile walks on a gravel road. The soles on regular athletic shoes are too soft and don't hold up long with the abrasiveness of the gravel. I could feel just about every stone after the shoes had worn a bit.So far these shoes are great. Soles seemed to have been designed to be tough but pliable. The toe box seems to be just a little bit bigger that normal (standard width ordered), but not too much to make the shoe really sloppy.Would have given these shoes five stars if not for the fact they have canvas loops instead of eyes for the laces. Eyes seem to make the shoe easier to lace, Also, I need to see if these shoes hold up to the abrasiveness of the gravel.

Good for hiking
My daughter feels comfortable when hiking with it. No longer wear the last one I bought for her from mountain gears.
