New chair for Pop
Arrived on date of estimated delivery- quite heavy delivery person tumbled it up 7 front steps of porch into our front door. It was quite easy to put together. We ordered it specially for my father who has advanced stage dementia. Being that the chair has an attached tray table it helps to keep him seated when he is confused and tries to stand on his own. The only draw back is that othe chair is on 4 wheels only 2 have safety locks so he is able to rock the chair back and forth even though back wheels are locked. We plan to order to replacement wheels with locks and switch them out with the front wheels without locks hopefully that will keep the chair more stable. But otherwise the chair is well made.

Very small chair with weak foot rest
For the most part I like, but the foot rest doesn't stay raised when reclined. Any it's clear that this chair isnt made for anyone of a large build. My daughter is 120 and 5 foot 2 and it fits her perfectly. But i sat in the chair 182 I did fit in the chair snugly with out tray and the foot rest wouldn't raise.Update: this chair is junk! It's very uncomfortable, odd angles. I lay my daughter back and I must add a pillow because it looks as though she might break her neck. She complains of the discomfort all the time. After 2 years of normal use the chair is falling apart!

Nice Geri Chair
I read previous reviews about this product. I tend to agree with most. It is a little harder to assemble and you would definitely need a man to do it because it is heavy. The instructions are not that easy to understand. But we got through it. Also, the box does come a bit tore up, but as long as the product on the inside isn't damaged then who cares. And if it is damaged then it comes with instructions on how to contact Drive Medical to get your warrantied replacement part. I really liked that. Our side panel wouldn't fit properly so I will be contacting them to replace it. As far as the actual chair goes, I got it for my aunt who is only 4 foot 5 inches. She really likes it. We feel so much safer with her sitting in the chair with a tray than sitting on the couch with the possibility of falling out. My dad who is 6 feet tall also fits comfortably in the chair. A complaint I saw in the reviews is that it is hard to maneuver from one room to the next. It is a bit tough at times because the wheels only swivel in the back. It would be nice if it swiveled on all 4 but this one doesn't and many Geri chairs do not either. The thing we had to learn is that this is a recliner and not a wheelchair. You can't treat this thing like a wheelchair, it is a piece of furniture. You normally don't move your furniture around all the time, right? So why this. I would say that it is a bonus that it moves for example from the living room to the den.

Check with the facility where your loved one is to see if they will allow it.
My father's wife fell and cracked her knee cap. She has dementia and is in the memory garden unit at Aston Gardens, Naples. Getting her to sit still is very difficult, so the logical next step was to make sure she could be very comfortable in a nice recliner. Amazon sent it quickly, I ordered it on Wednesday and it was delivered, in good shape, on Monday. THEN the facility said "its too big". Its not, its a standard geri-chair and I had told them I was ordering a geri-chair. So they put it up by the reception desk to be picked back up... On that Thursday she fell again and hit her head. Oh, that she had been sitting in that nice, brand new geri chair which was sitting in a box by reception.Amazon arranged with me to donate it to a charity, which will be picking it up next Tuesday.AMAZON has been FABULOUS about this whole thing.

This is Garbage *Updated*
*Updated Below*Did I get the same chair as all these other people with positive reviews? Because the chair I just put together does not reflect them.Unfortunately, in mid-November, my Mom was diagnosed with colon cancer and she's been in the hospital ever since. Now that she's getting better and gaining her strength back she could be released soon and she needs suitable furniture for home, something she didn't have. We decided on this chair after I went to a few furniture stores looking at recliners but she has an ileostomy bag and she was a little bit anxious about having cloth and came up with the idea of getting a hospital chair like the one she has in her room now. I was thrilled to find something similar on Amazon and we ordered it. The shipping was fast and it was packed very well so good job on that part!It comes in only three pieces: the back cushion, the tray and the bottom (which includes armrests, wheels, and cushion already secured.) The manufacturer included two screws, an allen wrench and a one-page booklet. Yes, assembly is on the basic level. Just follow the directions in the right order and you're good. After assembly is when I questioned my sanity because this chair is the most uncomfortable seat I've ever sat in. The cushions are hard as rocks - there is absolutely no give in the seat, the back or the armrests. And the cushion is thin so I do not see a "break-in" period, there's barely anything to break-in. I also found the upright position awkward to sit in, the angle is bad. I'm 5'1" and my legs did not reach the floor when I sat all the way back with my spine against the cushion. I am severely disappointed, comfort is so important and I purchased this with the positive reviews in mind.Another strike is the armrests. The cushioning does not reach the entire length, after so far it's just hard metal framing to accommodate the tray. If you don't have the tray installed your wrists and hands are resting on metal. The tray also sucks and I do not see someone that has limited strength putting it on and taking it off while seated. It's basically an adult high chair. The storage for the tray is also bad; you slide one of the tray arms into the tray holder to stash it. Well, the tray rattles around, is not secured in the hole and drags on the floor. The wheels - I didn't think about it but the front two wheels are stationary while the back two wheels can go 360. Pushing the chair on carpet was actually difficult and I am not disabled. The headrest is a joke and someone with limited strength will not be able to adjust it themselves. I had to face the back cushion, dig my knees in and pull the headrest forward to see if it adjusted at all. The adjustments made are minimal, that option is superficial and not of any use.Besides the shipping and easy assembly the only other positive is the reclining - very easy and smooth. It's the same when pushing your legs in to return to the upright position. BUT (there's always a but!) I found the reclining positions strange. It seemed to me the seat cushion was too deep in the recline position and the footrest raised up too high. When I was in full recline my legs and feet were not at a good reclining level and it felt as though the chair was tipping back even though it wasn't (and can't.)From my point of view, the daughter of someone with a serious illness, I would tell you to run from this chair as fast as possible. However, everyone is different and once my Mom gets home and tries it for herself I will update the review with her thoughts - the actual user. So we'll see but I am 98% positive we're sending this back.*Update 12/19/2014*My Mom was able to try out the chair yesterday and today and she says it's ok - so we're keeping it. I'm going to bump up my stars to 3 instead of 1 for the following reasons:1. She had to add numerous blankets and pillows in order to actually make the chair comfortable enough to sit on and lay in. So no, this chair is not comfortable out of the box as they'd like us to believe. After spending close to $500 for a chair I'm not buying an additional $200 pad for it - that's ridiculous.2. The first question she asked as soon as she sat in it was "Does the back come up anymore?" because the back cushion is at an odd angle when it's in the upright position. I mentioned this above in my original review so I know it's not just me who finds the back cushion angled poorly. And to answer your question; no, the back cushion cannot be adjusted any more forward than how it comes. If this chair was for me, it would be on its way back to Amazon but my Mom finds it acceptable and she's the one who's using it so I guess it's ok enough to stay. If anything comes up with the chair I will update my review accordingly.*Updated 1/17/15*My Mom is still using the chair and with the additional 2 Blankets and 2 Pillows the chair is at a good comfort level. I've sat in it too and have found it comfortable for extended periods of time when I visit. My Mom ordered a chair cover with memory foam, the type that goes over a living room chair to protect from kids, animals and spills to see if she can reduce the number of blankets since it tends to make getting in and out "slippery."*Update 3/3/15*So the cover my Mom ordered from Surefit wasn't thick enough in the seat to really make a difference so she has asked me if I could get her a cut of high density foam to help with comfort levels. She said the measurement is 18x20 so I am on the hunt to try and make this chair comfortable. So again, this chair is not comfortable out of the box and needs additional padding or the official pad to make it 100% usable. Also, just to note, it's been a few months of constant use, my Mom sleeps in the chair frequently and the padding/cushions of the chair are just as hard as Day 1. There's absolutely no give or breaking in.

Very sturdy!!
Very easy to assemble and it was shipped very quickly! Not the most comfortable, but if it was softer it may not be as durable. My dad fits it perfectly!
