Don’t go without reading it first
We went with a tour group so not much time to explore on our own but having the book to re-enforce and sometimes refute information given us was priceless.

Good Info before you go
I just spent 2 weeks in Morocco and the book was really helpful and accurate.

New format is awful
Some people have complained about the lack of information regarding accommodations and restaurants. Well, that may be true, that doesn’t bother me so much because I never used LP so much for that purpose anyway. Now, however, the maps with any each area, which used to be really helpful, or now virtually nonexistent. In addition, the old versions would tell you what each attraction was known for (museum, monument, church, park, shopping, etc.) and that now too is completely gone. in fact, there is virtually no listing of the best things to do in each area at all. It is nothing more than a series of essays. Very sad what has happened to the brand.

Good info here
As usual, this Lonely Planet guide has helpful suggestions and useful tips you may not find elsewhere.

Oh Lonely Planet, what have you done?
We've used LP books all over the world forever, and they were super useful...until now. This edition has minimal lodging info, virtually no public transport info, even weak on eating. Plus it seems to have condensed the places it covers, leaving out the small gems we appreciated in other books. So sad to see LP go this route. I get that the travel info landscape has changed, with blogs galore and other sites with ratings of everything. But we trusted LP's suggestions, and now they're pretty much absent here. Surely hope this isn't the way new editions of other locales turn out.
