Is It Perfect? No But I Think It's As Close As You Can Probably Get
I don't normally write Amazon reviews but I wanted to write this as advice to people considering this as it's a big investment. I really recommend this BUT there is some things I would do, include or beware of when you purchase it. It may seem like I am only focusing on negative (despite leaving a 5 star review) but that is because the positives are fairly obvious and in the sales blurb. The negatives/issues are completely solvable problems but I think people should be aware of these when considering this cage.We drove ourselves around the bend researching options for our bunnies. Indoor, pretty and sturdy cages are not easy to come by. I considered building something specific but the biggest issue to consider is wee. Wood is pretty but you simply need moulded and sealed plastic to deal with indoor wee IMO, including accidents. The issues to consider are this -My first piece of advice is that before you put your bunnies in this you buy a large, flat (cat-style) litter tray. We bought a 45cm wide one off of here, it was £7. We had spent a lot more on fancier litter trays that simply didn't solve the problem. The simple and cheap one has been perfect, but that was after learning a lesson. The bottom tray is very shallow and with smaller litter trays and corner ones (we went through a few) accidents happen and spray come out of the sides. It's made more complex by trying to set up the hay to be accessible whilst on a litter tray. This may not have been a huge issue but it sits in grooves in the wood and can saturate, smell and damage a large financial investment really quickly. The big, flat (with 10cm high sides) litter tray had solved the problem and means we can set up a hay station for both bunnies where they can sit on their litter tray munching away.Secondly, unlike most other Ferplast cages and similar, the bottom of this cage only has one small opening. This is no problem whatsoever for bunnies but if your bunny is reticent to come out they could hide in the far corner and be unreachable unless you remove the top tray. The flip side is that it's very secure and easy to control bunnies in and out with a single entrance.Lastly, related to the above point, to clean the cage you need to do it in a specific order. Basically you have to remove the top tray first. It may not look like it in the photos but it doesn't consider the fact that you cannot slide out the bottom tray (as shown in photos) without removing and items over a couple of inches in height that live in the bottom tray - Including the litter tray. With only one small opening you can't get a large litter tray out without removing the top tray. Once you do this everything is accessible. If you take into account the above points and buy a big litter tray (there is plenty of room for it) then this is as I say, as good a cage as I believe you could find. It's not perfect but closer than anything else we researched, tested and considered. We only use litter in the litter tray, wood shavings etc anywhere else as it just seems to encourages messy toileting. We cut and laid a piece of gym matting in each tray and since solving the above issues the cage stays really tidy and is a really quick and easy clean.

Not just a pretty face
We use this cage for our guinea pigs and they love it. It was moderately hard to put together, but quite enjoyable to build. It is a great height to get the guinea pigs out, but that is because they daren't venture down the steep ramp to the bottom level yet (even with coaxing of carrot tops down the steps). We had to wait two months for it to arrive, but we are made up with it. Not only does it look super nice, but it is mega easy to clean as you can pull the trays fully out. We love the fact that you can either keep the roof open or closed (when the cat is around). It's plenty big enough for 3 guinea pigs and the house at the top is genius. If you want to get the piggies out and they aren't playing ball, then they usually run into the house and you can bring the cover up to lock them in. Voila, you can then slide the top of the roof off (very convenient) and get them out that way. The only downside to the cage is that they aren't making full use of both levels, but we make sure they get used to it by putting them in that bottom part for a while at a time. Maybe one day they will be brave enough to venture up or down it!

Difficult to put together
I bought this cage for my lionhead bunny and he absolutely loves it. It’s huge (I could definitely get another bunny if I wanted to as it’s more than big enough) & is a really beautiful piece of furniture. It was REALLY difficult to put together so I wouldn’t recommend to anyone that doesn’t have a handyman around!

More hassle than it's worth.
I purchased this cottage because the pet store cage my male guinea pigs are currently in is not big enough and they are becoming quite violent with each other. The £29 shipping was extortionate but I thought it meant the shipping would be quick which would prevent my piggies killing each other and save me a huge vets bill.It took 8 days to arrive. 8 days of stress considering the reason I had ordered. It finally arrived and I opened the box, looked at the instructions and set out the screws (I had to measure them to figure which were which as the instructions are absolutely dreadful. I say this as someone who worked in Ikea building furniture every day - that was simple in comparison. After 30 mins of sorting and figuring out which pieces to begin with - I went to start screwing it together. NIGHTMARE. The screw holes are not there! Every time I tried to screw, it just pushed the piece I was trying to attach away. The seller is slow to respond, and hasn't replied to my email from 3 days ago and considering the price of this thing.....I'm stressed! I need a guinea pig cage and instead I'm sitting looking at my hall way covered in bits of wood that will not fit together.AVOID!!!

Great Large Indoor Hutch
This is large, bought the large version for two mini lops (babies). I reckon you could get a fully grown Alsatian to sleep in this! It's almost an item of furniture, it's just so lovely, that's probably why it's quite expensive. I have this as the mini lops main residence but I also have a large puppy cage in the kitchen with its own house and is permanently open so they have the free run of the kitchen and also harnesses so they can be taken outside but remember, rabbits aren't dogs so when on the lead you go where they want to go. No pulling them back like a dog.I've seen reviews complaining about poor instructions for assembling this Ferplast Hutch but in my experience, if you follow the instructions logically and lay out the bits you need at each turn, measure the screws if your not sure then it should go well. I assembled this large hutch in about six hours ( with a few coffee breaks thrown in) and I'm no joiner. Just used to IKEA assembly things! I would advise that two people assemble this as some parts are quite tricky on your own but I managed it. Lovely indoor hutch, much bigger than I invisaged but a lovely bit of kit. Between it and the dog cage in the kitchen I think my mini lop eared buns will be very happy.
