2014 Waggoner Cruising Guide Paperback – December 9, 2013

I was surprised at the marginal quality of this guide given the high ratings it received in prior years. The information on cruising locations is very high-level - less than I could find by looking at charts and searching for locations on the internet with my smartphone. The book itself isn't suited to boat life - the pages are glossy magazine stock. They're somewhat fragile and easily damaged by liquids. Worse, sections on popular locations are choked with ads (some of them full page) - this is not acceptable for a guide that costs $25.As a simple catalog of Pacific Northwest locations it's serviceable. The guide is at it's best when describing more remote locations.

This book is more concerned with providing promotion for expensive marinas than useful information for sailors seeking the isolated anchorages of the Pacific North West. If you want to jump from marina to marina with bars and restaurants you may find this book more useful than we did,.There seemed to be a strong correlation between the size of display ads and the amount of coverage a given destination received in this book.There are better books available

I am using the Waggoner Cruising Guide for planning my 2014 inside passage trip from Washington to Alaska. This print compliments the Don Douglass series books. I highly recommend it...

Another must have read for cruisers, live a boards and weekend warriors. Well detailed and full of information. Make time to see it all.

Excellent publication. Always a handy reference book and this year seems better than ever. Don't leave the dock without a copy on board.

Great cruising companion for the PNW.The pics of each small hbr berthing numbers, jetty layout and marina contact info is invaluable.

Should be on board every vessel along with Chapmans and chart #1.
