Essential for minor nose bleeds
I have godawful allergies and I live in an area that is hot, dry and windy with plenty of dust. Hence I get a lot of nosebleeds, sometimes pretty bad ones. These cotton rolls are great for using in tandem with something like Nampons, which are expensive and unnecessary for the more minor nosebleeds - the goal is to save the higher-powered solution for the bigger events. These rolls don't get stuck very often on the bleeding area as it dries so when you pull or twist them out it doesn't reopen the bleed. Like I said, these are for minor bleeds. During major bleeds they quickly fill up with blood which of course then drips on your shoes!

Kind of narrow for adult nostrils
My favorite nose “tampons” are hard to get and very expensive so I tried these instead. They are pretty long, twice as long as the depth of my nostril but also pretty narrow. They aren’t anymore absorbent than a wad of tissue shoved up there. I cut them in half and shove two in one nostril but when I get a nose bleed it looks like a crime scene so trying to fiddle with cutting these and cramming them in my nose hole is pretty messy. I like the Nampons but the price is high so I keep those in my travel first aid kit and got these to try at home. I won’t buy again. They are okay for the occasional little seasonal nose bleed but they don’t have a clotting agent like the Nampons. My nose bleeds sometimes require an ER visit for packing. These are probably fine for kids but be prepared to cut them in half or thirds for little ones.
