first thing about ANY chain-breaker, you need to know how to use a chain-breaker....you have to be sure you are driving that pin home right on the money or else you break the tool and the chain. I used to work at a shop and learned the hard way many times. the shadow chains are super beefy and my topeak chain tool was not up for the task. It broke without moving the pin. this tool worked absolutely perfectly and smoothly. Also the pin alignment thing works like a champ...great chain, great tool. but you gotta pay to play. Just like ANY chain tool you need to be careful, and go slowly to make sure its working.

I have used this on Shadow and other half link chains, works great. Don't be a doofus and continue to crank it if things start going sideways. Make sure everything is straight while breaking or assembling a chain, and you shouldn't have any problems. The extra locator pin is magnetically stored in the handle, and works great to help while assembling a chain link.

Broke on first use. Broke off the chain hold tab and bent the push pin. Yes I even had ground off the rivit head flush with the chain link. Should have been an easy push for any unit I had borrowed in the past from friends of similar type. Must be made for non high strenght metals only.

Junk. Broke in 2 different places with removing one half link. Shadow makes a wonderful chain why not make an at least halfway decent tool?
