A fantastic retelling of a familiar, part of Egypts history!
Brilliant TV series, Ben Kingsley and Alexander Siddiq steal the show for me but the spectacle and massive production come across as a real tour de force. The battle scenes are fantastic and the attention to detail is excellent. Be warned though, there are some pretty gory scenes in the film so prehaps not suitable for younger children.

Disappointing
Very disappointing that the series didn't have anything whatsoever in common with the real life of king Tut. The production company has just placed a generic action hero story about "one man, who wouldn't take it any more, one man, who stood up against the corruption" in Egypt. Not very believable historical circumstances either, but all in all a very modern storyline with all the usual Hollywood ingredients for correctness. The only impressive thing is the beautiful costumes. The sets are also ambitious - a great task!, but the outdoor sets are somewhat overused. It gets a bit claustrophobic. The fight scenes are also ambitious, but you can very well see that this is not a classic epic with "a cast of thousands". Although there are at least two hundred extras, the battle scenes look very empty at times. Obviously for budget restrictions, which is reasonable and therefore OK.Bluray quality is without remarks. I think that the film was shot on digital, and a few times the focus wanders off, blinking as a digital camera searching for focus.

One of the best tv series about Pharaoh Tutankhamun
One of the best tv series I have seen so far about ancient Egypt and the life of Tutankhamun. Tut is portrayed as close to the true person as possible with some dramatic war & love scenes and also try to explain why he was put in an inferior tomb when he died.I loved this film and recommend it warmly.

.... A must have : for egyptologists new & old ....
.... pharaonic classic . especially with the HD release .... and I was surprised I was able to watch it because this item is labeled as Region: -paRegion B/2 , which in theory my bluray would not be able to read ... actually I found it very emotional : reviving how the boy - pharaoh was betrayed and his legacy was removed from all site ... thanks God ... burial robers never finded that TREASURE ... before Sir Howard Carter almost a century ago (1922) in the sacred valley ...

Amazing stroy. Mr Kingsley as always
Amazing stroy. Mr Kingsley as always, delivers an exquisit interpretation of Ay Tuts guradian/protector. Avan Jogia portrais Tut with realism, and when "Tut" has tears in his eyes, well so did I. Eventhough the story is based on what is known about Tut,and fantasy, (and wishful thinking) the series leave you wiht the desire of learning more about King Tutankhamun, and ancient Egypt. Wardrobe is excelent, surroundigns, totally belivable, and sceanery is so realistic,.I got the feeling of actually being in ancient Egypt. The story itself, has a lot of the information we already have about The Boy King Tutankhamun, and it blends perfectly together, with what we asume might have hapened. Though Tutankhamun was not even close to be the handsome young man,Avan Jogia inpersonates, there is no ground for discution. This mini serie has every ingridient a good story needs, actual history, the hunger for power, passion, betraial, love, action, intrigue and lots of backstabbing. And last but not least, exelent acting of all actors. From the leading actro to the extra far far away on the screen. If you want to be entertained and also learn some about the worlds most famous Pharao, this is the serie for you.It will leave you with the desire of learning even more.

Good fun and lavish visuals
If you like films about ancient Egypt and aren't hung up on historical details, this is very entertaining. For obvious historical reasons, this cannot be historically accurate, regarding the plot, but it is a nice "what if" story. The sets and costumes are breath-taking and the human relationships drive the plot. It felt very real in a fairy tale sort of way. The actors are beautiful and some of the more experienced actors give it some depth.

Watchable
Watchable mini series for a very wet day, how much of it bares any resemblance to the life of King Tut has to be debatable and apart from a virtuoso performance from Ben Kingsley the rest of the cast were OK nothing more.

A triumph!
A gripping drama, historically accurate and full of action. The costumes are a lust for the eye. The cast is very well chosen:King Tut played by Avan Jogia and the chief advisor Vizier Ay by Ben Kingsley.Recommended!
