Review
Despite how short “Reconfigurement: Reconfiguring Your Life at Any Stage and Planning Ahead” by E. Alan Fleischauer is, it is jam packed with a lot of material, terms, definitions, and strategies for those who need it. E. Alan Fleischauer breaks down and simplifies all the topics he discusses and is the perfect one for the job as he holds many years of experience in the financial field, along with managing finances himself. This book is valuable for working people, and those closer to retiring, but truthfully it is open to everyone and can be a nice jewel of information for those who want to start early in planning their futures. Topics range all the way from investing, budgeting, health care to retirement, social securities, long-term care and so much more. He goes as far as to mention costs, breaking down the different types and even giving a brief history of the acts or how they came to be.There are plenty of examples and analogies he uses so the reader can better understand the topic. The tone of the book is very casual yet informative at the same time and the author does not hesitate to list facts out in bullet points for better organization and comprehension as we navigate through the book. In fact, I found myself smiling at the mini jokes and mildly humorous tone. The author guides the readers through the pages with resources, links, and other useful material that can deepen our experience and understanding. This evidence is also backed by statistics and numbers. I learned many new terms and specifics of investing, insurances, and retirement plans that I had never come across before. I took a few personal notes from the book to research on my own time and consider implementing in my own life. There were also questions asked that challenged my thought process.Overall, it was a very informative read with a hundred pages of back to back knowledge in financial literacy. It’s a great option for those who want to reconfigure their life. Therefore, I rate this book a 4 out of 5

Informative, Useful and Entertaining Read
As a person who has been working with finances on both a micro and a macro level for the past 5 years, I could easily get into this book. Personally, I'm not ready to start thinking about my retirement, which I suppose makes me the exact target audience that the author has in mind. The author, who claims to be a veteran financial services expert, starts off with the change in demographics and the ever-shrinking pension system in America and the majority of people's reluctance to plan ahead. Ehm ehm. The author stresses the need to reconfigure one's station in life unabruptly and with some important guidelines about how to think and go about it.The basic storyline of this book is Aesop's timeless fable of the Ant and the Grasshopper and the need to budgetize and plan ahead - now more than ever in the 21st century. Above and beyond that, it's about finding that which you love, and actually doing it, at any age. What I enjoyed about this book, if you can cut through the initial doom and gloom of potentially winding up poor in a cold, pensionless world are the anecdotes, tales and dry humor employed by Mr. Fleischauer. The sensible conclusions he draws, and the advice he gives, all come from simply connecting the dots that are available and (should be) visible to all. And I suppose it's the systematic/conceptual view of financial planning he takes which at times reminded me of a favorite book of mine on personal finance about rich and poor dads. All in all, this is a good book for gleaning financial planning tips (not only regarding retirement) and perhaps embarking on a personal financial paradigm shift. What makes it particularly palatable is its common sense and dry humor without being facetious in any way and, most importantly, without lecturing, and instead relating to, laggard readers like myself.
