Not sure but I would not use aluminum wire for any household electric service. Aluminum tends to oxidize making it necessary to use Noalox or similar oxidizing preventer.

Hi, I'm an electrician. You can't remove the tabs inside the receptacle. This is called "Tamper Resistant" -that is what the "TR" stands for. Some brands make receptacles that are easier to use ...and though it is illegal to instal the older non-resistant receptacles, you can probably find a sympathetic electrician near you who will replace the receptacles that you have. How to deal with TR receptacles: The TR tab is usually a vertical strip of plastic, so don't try to press the plug into the receptacle straight on; that creates even pressure on both the plastic strips (so you'll get the full resistance of the receptacle). Try gently rocking the plug side to side as you press it in so that one side of the plug enters first -that way you are only dealing with 1/2 the resistance needed at the moment of penetration.

Q: does the back wire connection accept a 12guage wire
