Works fine with HP Envy
I bet other people were disappointed as I was, to buy the HP Envy laptop only to read HP's disclaimer that the mini display port wouldn't work with a VGA adapter, which (other than DVI) is kind of the whole point of having that port at all. Granted, the computer has an HDMI connector which works fine, but if you want to shop for an external monitor (or use an old one) it helps a lot to have a VGA connector just in case.So I was very glad to see another reviewer here report success with a similar computer and this product (the Cirago adapter). On that basis I took the plunge, and was glad to find that it worked very well and very easily. If it matters, this is the Sandybridge Core I5 and Windows 7. I have two video chipsets installed but was using the "simple" default one (Intel) which, so far, is all I've ever needed.I also noted users having had problems with the computer end of the cable, so I was very careful when inserting and removing it. The one I got seems quite sturdy but I will continue to be careful. As the package claims, there are no drivers needed for this little adapter cable. It seems to be more or less "transparent" between the PC and the monitor.I had a choice of two old analog monitors that I was hoping to get more use from, so I plugged in this adapter to the laptop, plugged in the monitor, and the computer recognized it immediately. Windows wanted me to tweak my resolution settings because of course the CRT did not match the laptop, but it was easy to make both displays work well enough just to try out, even including autosizing to fit the mismatched aspect ratios. The Intel driver allowed me to set the external monitor as a clone or as an extended desktop, and both worked fine. Cool.I did these same tests with two different monitors of different sizes and both worked. When I switched between them, the second one did not seem to be recognized, so I turned it off, disconnected the adapter, then started over again. This "woke up" the operating system I guess, anyway that's all I needed to do.I will mention that I was also impressed by the default video hardware in the Envy laptop and its driver, because it was very flexible and capable for doing all this, and I made a point of not reading any manuals (!) to see how easy it might be. Answer: pretty easy.I do not know what the deal is with HP and why they scare their customers by saying this port does not work, when it seems to work just fine -- at least, with the Cirago adapter anyway. The only disclaimer I will add is that I only tested it for an hour or less with these two monitors, so I can't vouch for longterm function or whatever. But for the price, it was a very nice surprise and I expect it will make life easier for future use of the computer.

Works great for AMD Eyefinity!
This one works with my card! Before I had this, I tried to hook up two DVI and a single HDMI and it did not work.I have an XFX Double D HD-687A-ZDFC Radeon HD 6870 1GB with two DVI, 1 HDMI, and 2 Mini DisplayPort outputs.I learned that in order to use more than 2 monitors with an AMD graphics card, I needed to get a Mini DisplayPort adapter. I also learned that the adapter needed to be active.I have one monitor plugged into my DVI, and one in my HDMI. This disables the 2nd DVI port, so in order to connect more monitors, you must use the Mini DisplayPort with an active adapter (has an internal converter).=======It was packaged well and doesn't feel cheap so I'm pretty happy about it. If it fails on me within the year, I'll update this.

Worked immediately
My card is an XFX 7950, with 2 DVI, 1 HDMI and 2 MiniDP outputs. I was looking forward to having a three-screen setup - since the card said it could support four monitors I didn't think this was a problem, but I soon realized I couldn't simply use the 2 DVI and HDMI at the same time. For people looking to add a third monitor to an ATI/AMD system: this adapter works. It was the least expensive active adapter on Amazon by about $10 when I bought it. Due to reviews, I was a little concerned about the build quality and to be honest it is a little flimsy. If I was using this on a laptop, I would get a more rugged model, but since I'm using this on a desktop that doesn't get moved often I don't foresee any problems.

Eyefinity + 1 Accessory monitor = WORKING!
I have a 3-monitor setup (ATI Eyefinity) and I also acquired a smaller TV that sits above on a shelf above my monitors. So I bought this little Mini Displayport to VGA adapter to hook up my TV and it WORKED! I can have a game running in eyefinity as well as have my TV display all of my temp monitoring software and other gadgets. So, if anyone is looking for an adapter that works for this kind of setup, THIS ONE WORKS! I read many other reviews on other products saying that they were not "active" and it failed to produce results. This product, however, will do the job.Hope this helps! And a side note: make sure you get the correct adapter with the correct connections. This one is for a Mini DisplayPort and VGA.

Works great. I have it plugged into my Surface Dock ...
Works great. I have it plugged into my Surface Dock 4 (or whatever it's called when Surface Pro 4 was released).Initially, I bought a mini - display port 3-way adaptor (hdmi, vga, dvi) but if connected that multi adaptor to the Docking Station, my 2nd monitor image would not display correctly. The solution was connecting the 3 way adapter directly to the Surface Pro, but I wanted a single monitor cable instead and only have to worry about connecting/unplugging the docking to the Surface Pro. Which I did accomplish with this adapter

Very simple and straightforward.
I love the trend to lightweight laptops - such as my Dell XPS12. However, the downside to the trend is the lack of available / different ports on the laptop itself. So, hence the need for adapters such as this. Thankfully, this one is very small, and very easy to plug and play. If you need a mini-display port to VGA adapter, this is an excellent choice, based on a month's usage. I would also note that I initially looked for USB to VGA adapters. I am glad I found this - a much better choice, pricewise and at the same time leaves the USB ports available for other uses.

Great and effective alternative to apple connector
Solved my problem with another cheaper off brand connector to my MacBook. The old one was making my screen blue (because of some thing not converting I think).. this one corrected it!
