This lens is simply phenomenal for half the price of Canon, plus it features VC (image stabilization) which Canon's equivalent does not. Sharpness is very good and image quality is spot-on. I shoot mainly portraits, but this thing is on my camera almost all the time and is a great do-everything lens. One thing I should note is that you may not get a Tamron warranty when you buy from Amazon unless it is purchased by a certified retailer. The normal low price I tend to see this lens at is around $1200 so I'd wait to see if you can grab it at that price. I got lucky and snagged one for $1099 (a display model). I don't get the warranty but I think saving $500 is worth it rather than paying for the warranty. Mine came mint-condition and basically looked new. Not a single scratch, scuff or any sign of use. I will definitely go Tamron when I purchase a 70-200mm

This is a fantastic lens! I purchased it to use with my Canon 6D Mark II and use it primarily for my professional photography gigs (travel/photo journalism). It's a heavy lens but it's worth it's weight because of the image stabilization and the ease of use. I don't need to carry around a collection of prime lenses and don't need to waste time changing lenses between shots. I found this lens to be sharp throughout the frame even wide open at 24mm. It produces good bokeh, contrast and colours that I've come to expect from my Canon lens.
