A tough little tape that won't weigh down your vest!
This is a great tape. I like it for times when I don't need a 25' or 30' tape. It's a lot lighter in the front pocket of my vest. It's very rugged and has a nice, snappy return. I'm not crazy about the lock, but I don't use it much anyway. Why isn't the lock button underneath where your index finger sits? That would be the best place for it I think. Oh well. Rant below: By the way, this is for Surveyors. By that I mean it reads in 10ths and 100ths of a foot, i.e. Engineer Scale. It also displays inches. I can't believe how many tradesmen don't have one of these. We surveyors make our marks in decimal feet and nobody knows what we are saying. The US is really screwed up with units. We really need someone, some agency, or the law to say METRIC ONLY!! It would only be a matter of time before everyone got used to it. We already have metric for some things (most of the hardware on our cars and motorcycles, bicycles have always been metric, bottles of water are metric, etc.) Since inches and feet is so hard to use, long ago surveyors or engineers came up with decimal feet. Just like the metric system uses decimal meters, we use decimal feet. Land surveying would be a nightmare if we had to use inches and feet. If we all switched to metric there would be no "language barrier" between the trades, as there is now. Sorry for the rant.

engineer's scale
Just what I need. When surveying or if a geologist or field engineer, these are what to need to measure feet in tenths of a foot. Great for measuring RQD of % recovery of rock core, or constructing monitoring, or production wells. If not using the metric system, this is the next best thing. If your a carpenter, one side in inches and 1/16ths of an inch. The engineer side is in 1/10th and 1/100ths of a foot.

Strange how numbers are on it!
While this is nice, well made. Warning that you have to pay close attention to the numbers! One set on each side, can mess you up. Once you figure that out it’s like any other.. works great no issues other than strange number placement. Lol . We didn’t pay attention to it before ordering it, so I figured I would mention it.

THE PRODUCT IS DANGEROUS !!!
The English side measures 1” while the Engineer’s side measures 1.15”. It’s actually dangerous. This can’t be a Lufkin I bought 5 FIVE of these, now I want to send them all back. This one went as a gift to a relative. Will AMAZON let me, PLEASE?

Great for little stuff
Looks and worked great until the metal tape actually started to tear. I replaced it so I didn't end up cutting myself. Great for little stuff but I'm hard on tools and not blaming Crescent/ Lufkin

A good tape but know what you are ordering
It seems to be a solid, well built tape but... I used to have a starrett tape that had 10ths and 100ths of an inch marked on it. I did not understand that this tape was marked in 10ths and 100ths of a FOOT. Maybe I should have known by the name "Engineer's Tape". It would maybe be more accurate to call it an architects tape. I dunno
