Good clarity for loud gigs
I play professionally with a number of bands of different genres. This pickup gives a good, clear tone with no feedback making it perfect for rock gigs. As with any bridge pickup the sound quality cannot compete with a microphone so I don't use it for quieter jazz or classical gigs. The bridge modification was easy enough and the height of the pickup is low enough that I can keep it on in the case. It does dampen the acoustic sound though. I'm using it on a cheap violin because - let's be honest - any pickup that takes the sound from the bridge is not picking up much of the resonance of the violin body anyway. The mount screws on like a chin rest so If you need to switch often between acoustic and pickup you may find taking this on and off a bit cumbersome (though much easier than removing an under-bridge pickup). Contrary to the instructions I mounted it on the bass side of the bridge to avoid it sounding tinny. I don't know how much difference it made but hey, it sounds good. I've been using it for a year or so and it's proved reliable so far.

Best of the cheaper options
This did very well on its one outing so far. Best of the cheaper options. I hope it is durable. Missed out on 5 stars only because I had to shave a bit of the fixed padding, and insert a slice of extra padding so that it gripped only the purfling and didn't exert pressure on the belly just below the f-hole. Very glad I paid a bit more for the integral potentiometer.
