Excellent Choice
Not Linda Howard's usual kind of book but brilliant just the same. Having read all of her books I was not sure what to expect of her writing a Vampire romance kind of book. I was pleasantly suprised! Firstly Vampire topics seem to be all the rage just lately so she is right on target.Lucas Ambrose, everyone's idea of a hero. Good looking, strong (what you'd expect from a vampire), quick and a protector of his human. I'm not going to spoil the story for you. Suffice to say, you have to read it and, once started it's very hard to put down.I am thoroughly looking forward to the next book in this series. I just hope we don't have to wait too long so, Linda, please get writing quick so we can carry on where you left off!!

Loved it
Wasn't sure when I started reading - not really into vampires and all that jazz but I love Linda and Linda and really enjoyed this. Was a bit disappointed at the end when it's quite obviously left open for a sequel, that apparently the publishers didn't want one! Well I do!

Exciting all the way through
Anybody who has read the Raintree series, where two of the three books were written by Linda Howard and Linda Winstead Jones will recognise some of the plot - otherworldly powers, what appeared to be normal humans drawn into something supernatural, in this case a fight between vampires and humans. If you are familiar with both authors' works, you will recognise some of their distinctive characteristics as you read through the book, but their two styles do merge superbly into a very exciting book. The characters are well rounded, and even the bad guy, Sorin is likeable when he's bad. I read it once and then immediately read it again. Couldn't put it down. Unfortunately, the next in the series is not out for a whole year, so I shall have to read this one again - no great hardship!

linda howard at her best
I read this book having only read linda howard books but will now be looking to buy some of linda jones. this is a great vampire novel for reader who may find twilight and vampire dairies a bit young but still have the love stories. it gives a different history for vampire including blood born and the warriors and i cannot wait to read the next instalment. hope these two authors keep writing together for long time to come.

Could have been better
Blood Born was not a bad read. Not a great read either, unfortunately. Howard's usual semi-rape of the heroine by the hero which I just don't get even if she does try to justify it. It has a good plot with a good ending and I kept reading in spite of the repetitious details. It could have been edited down about 50 pages. I will definitely read the sequel and hope they doctor up some of this books glaring mistakes. So, I gave the story 4 stars and remember a not perfect Howard is still better than most others.
