5 month update: So it's been about 5 months since I installed these air shocks, and it's still a five-star review. I have purposely let this car sit for up to a week and a half without starting the car or activating the air suspension pump. The air pump ran for 5 seconds and the car was already back up to ride height. The shocks have no issues inflating more when additional weight is added, and also no trouble returning to trim level once the car is off. I'm still very pleased with these air shocks. Original review in September 2024: Installed these on a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. The original air bag shocks were 25 years old, and failing miserably. They would still pump up, but the air pump would cycle on and off every minute or so, until the air suspension light would illuminate in the dash. The first thing I noticed is the quality and size of these air bags are not what was originally installed on this car nearly 25 years ago, but then again, what is? For the price, I feel like they're a good buy. It took about 2 hours to install both of them, that was taking my time. There's some good videos on YouTube explaining how to install them. The video I referred to most was from 1AAuto for a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis, the process was exactly the same even though it was a different generation. The main thing I took away from the videos I watched is to NOT lower the car all the way down after installing the new air bags as you could risk crimping and damaging the air shocks, which in turn could cause them to over-inflate and cause them to pop as they have no pressure in them at all to begin with. After installing them, I took my car's scissor jack and put it on one side of the car, my regular floor jack on the other, and raised the car up off of the jack stands on both sides, removed the jack stands, and then with the help of another person, slowly lowered the car down evenly to the approximate location that the rear of the car should sit, and then turned the key to the on position without starting the car (the thought being that the bags would inflate slower than if the car was running). And much to my surprise the pump did not activate, so, with the key still on, we lowered the car a little more, evenly on both sides, and the car's air compressor switched on and started inflating the air bags. After less than a minute, the car was raised off of the jacks and at it's appropriate height. How I installed mine may have been overkill on my part, but I do think that not bottoming out the car initially with the new bags installed is key. After 2+ days of letting the car sit, the car was still raised, and when I reached in and started the car (without getting in the car), the air pump didn't even activate, after getting in the car, it kicked on and ran for 7 seconds, and then switched off, letting me know that the car hadn't lowered much, if any, since the install.
