Don't buy - listen to the negative reviews
I don't know why I didn't listen to the reviews but I thought I would give this item a shot. When it arrived the AA Duracell brand batteries barely fit in the device. It actually took a fair bit of work to get it closed. Once the batteries were installed I discovered the device was DOA. Instead of trying another one I decided for the price the build quality was just too low. What's more disconcerting is the same item is available from a large auction site for 20% of the price here. Even at that discount I recommend finding a different product.

Good for kids. Not for work.
If you need a very cheap and low light UV this is for you. It's not very bright so I returned it and went ahead and bought one that is 5x more expensive but can actually get work done. This one is good for kids at home.

It fits my need.
It it very chintzy, but it works for now. It should be OK if you aren't using it all the time.

This thing is a firs hazard.
I put the batteries in and used the light for about two minutes. I noticed it was getting hot so I took the batteries out .one was so hot I couldn’t hold it. I thought that maybe it was a defective battery so I replaced the batteries wit a new set. The same result. This is going back it could easily start a fire and burn your house down. Very dangerous stay away.

Works with minerals perfectly, it's intended purpose. it works best in darkness.

Kinda cheap
You can tell the product was made super cheap which was kinda disappointing given the price I paid. When I put the batteries in, it wasn’t working until I was physically squeezing and holding the product together. Basically with the batteries in it it was coming apart. A crack in the plastic where two pieces of it meets, you can see one of the batteries peeking through.

Very weak light
Short wave UV is a very weak light that takes a couple minutes to warm up, even then you need the light to be less than 1/2 inch from mineral to be effective. Not worth the money for what is effectively only a long wave UV light.
