Seems well made
My aunt loves to crossstitch, and is good at losing track of her embroidery thread supply. I wanted something to keep it organized and in one place. I tried a stacking plastic organizer box, but felt that she would have trouble aligning and latching the layers with the one I purchased. With this, every layer is attached together, and opens easily with the handles. It is fairly lightweight for a toolbox, but fairly heavy for a sewing box. Only wish it opened a little wider so the layers don't overlap when it's fully open. It might be difficult to access the rows of thread towards the outside in the middle and bottom layers. I do like the clear plastic covers on the top drawers.

Works for organizing light weight tools
I bought this toolbox to organize all my knife sharpening gear. For my use it seems to be perfect. The black colored sides are plastic, the body, trays, and handles are metal. The rivets that hold the trays to the sides are plastic. I would not use this toolbox for heavy tools. It seems great for organizing hobby type items.

Look everywhere for this, it's exactly what I need... BUT it is cheaply made. dealbreaker? no.
I looked high and low for a cantiliver box like this, this is it. it is as pictured. It's extremely cheaply built, and it does fall over on it's own weight if you don't open both sides at the same time. It wiggles and twists, and i wouldn't recommend for serious contractor usage. That said, we're just using it to store hand tools at home, so it's perfect for that. note - due to the very small clearances when the flaps are opened, you can't actually get that big of items inside it. we had hoped to store bit driver sets and drill bit sets, no go - all of the boxes were too wide, to tall, or if they did fit it wouldn't close with them inside. I wish they made a slightly larger model, and I REALLY wish they made a stronger model. I'd pay. Would I buy again? Absolutely.

More than adequate.
This box is very nice. It’s plastic/metal construction makes it sturdy and functional. All compartments open nicely and accesible. I like the transparent lid top to be able to see at a glance my most frequently use tools in the top compartments. My only caveat is the only way to properly open the top lid is to erect the carry handle bar. If the bar is in the flat position, you won’t be able to open the lid. It’s either that or you have to slide over the entire double compartment side to open the top lid.To me it’s not too much of a nuisance but that’s why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. All in all I like it and I might consider getting a second. At least for sure if I find one in a diferente color.

A little smaller than I thought, but very sturdy
Metal is a little lighter than I though it would be, but I used it as a wax box for my ski team and the open/close mechanism is very smooth, easy to see everything in the toolbox at once without losing anything in the bottom. Very satisfied. wish they made it in a slightly larger version.

Great find for Dremel and Exacto tools!
This box held all my Dremel accessories, Dremel tool and a large Exacto knife kit with accessories. I am very pleased with the purchase and would recommend this as a great way to store these items. The lock feature is okay and does the job. That being said, if anyone's wanted to, they could just snap the plastic lid open. I found it sturdy enough for me.

Very sturdy. High quality.
This is the same toolbox that was made by Stanley under the FatMax brand name. The only thing that has changed is the color is yellow instead of silver. When Stanley stopped offering them, I tried to find a replacement, but nothing came close. Plastic tackle boxes are too light weight for my needs. When I saw this toolbox, it looked very familiar, so I order one to confirm it was an equivalent to the FatMax. I'm happy to report it is! :-DI use one for welding torch supplies, another for airbrush components, and yet another for carrying small tools. Very rugged and reliable. Really like to be able to open it up and see everything at once, instead of pulling out drawers. The clear plastic lids help me know which side to open to quickly find what I need. I will certainly be buying more.

This box works great for my sewing box
OK, OK so I am a guy that sews. My mom taught me when I was a little guy and boy has it come in handy. This box keeps my thread and accessories organized. No more basket that I have to search through. The plastic covers on the top rows allow me to see if I have the color or type of thread I need.I would not use this box for my leather tools or mechanical tools but for what I needed it is perfect. Perfect box for my sewing needs. If I needed a light duty hip roof box, I moight use this box (not the one I have, a new one)ThanksLee

Love these.
Sturdy, good price, can't complain. Only suggestion I do have is make sure the hinge fasteners are put in before it leaves the factory!! I had to put nuts and bolts in some because they were missing. Probably stronger anyway. I bought 3 so far
