Nice book
First off, I 'll have to say the book is nice introduction in to the internal art of Bagua Quan. It took me a while to find a book that isn't to wordy, yet easy enough to follow what the writer wanted to express about the art, and this book does just that. The best thing I love about the this book, are the animal forms that are associated with bagua,In all, it is a must have for anyone interested in the internal arts or a martial arts.I would recommend getting the Yin Style Baguazhang DVD to accompany this book, to get greater understanding of the art.

Excellent translation of the wizard's work.
A wellspring for the student of Baguazhang. A simple and profound translation of the original. After reading this I finally understood the blending of vertical and horizontal forces in Baguazhang.

Good Material, Questionable Translation
Of course Sun Lutang's writing on baguazhang is invaluable, and this is seemingly the only existing English translation in book form (though a version by Brennan appears online). However, I was disappointed with the quality of the translation in this book. The prose reads at times almost as it it were put through a translation app but then simply left as is. There are numerous wording and spelling errors that make the text difficult to follow. Sun's meaning is thus often impaired. I bought this because I wanted to have it in hard-copy book form, but I cannot say I would buy it had I read a sample in advance. Perhaps that is my fault, then. 3 stars for Sun's insights, if you can parse them out through this inadequate translation.

I love the book but you have to have studied the art in order to get anything out of it. I recommend it as a supplement to your lessons. Not for beginners or someone who is buying the book as a "how too" guide.

Excellent!
Bagua Quan is a very powerful internal martial art and when it is brought to you by a great master such as Sun Lu Tang, it only becomes that much more powerful. It is short, to-the-point and concise. It is however, not a beginners book, you will need to have a good deal of experience in internal martial arts to truly grasp the information covered in this book.
