I wouldn't think so as you have to get some support for the adhesive before you apply the powder

The kit comes with 7 small pots of loose (various colours) fibres ans a small pot of adhesive. My own experience was the repair of very small cigarette burns. I would say that much depends on the colour of the material you you are planning to mend. If you can get away with mixing some of the different loose fibres together then you should have sufficient to cover the desired area. How this is helpful.

Hello, The repair that I carried out was damage to a car seat. The instructions were at times a little vague, however, the finished repair was sufficiently invisible. The kit (that I received) does not come with a spray adhesive and I did not want to possibly ruin my careful repair work by applying a spray. The fibres appeared to stick satisfactorily to the applied glue. The original damage was approximately 10mm in diameter - too small an area to spray accurately without spraying onto the surrounding area of undamaged material. Hope this is of some help. Cheers

Q: Will this repair a 5 inch tear in a living room carpet?

Yes, I think that would be a good application. It is strong when bonded and if applied to the bottom side of the carpet it would not even need to be a neat repair as it would not be visible once installed. Would suggest practicing with the material first, if possible, so you can see how it works.
