Q: I usually play d'addario phosphor bronze 11s. i want to try flat tops but have been told to drop a gauge from 11 to 10. is this right?

I've switched all my electric guitars to flatwounds and gone down to 10's from my usual 11's, and in one case even went to 9's on my telecaster, however, I have to say I've not had much success/pleasure in switching any of my acoustics to flatwounds. I tried these 'Flat Tops' and I have to say was completely underwhelmed and switched back to coated phosphor bronze strings after a few days. Even new, they sounded dull in comparison to the old set of coated strings.
