Britool E418226B Drift Punch Set, 1.5cm x 3.1cm x 0.8cm, 6 Pcs

As an engineer having some decent punches is part of the job and of course I hark back to Britool gear I used as a ship's engineer way back in the mists of time.So, I wanted a set for my home workshop and I bought these.First off they are very good punches and well worth the money. They feel good quality and so far have proven to be robust.However, in the spirit of nostalgia I checked the Britool company in the hope it was still present in the UK. Sadly it's not and the name has been hived off to various suppliers who presumably just buy in Chinesium stuff and brand it 'Britool.'So, overall good punches but not Britool really.

Are they britool? there is no branding anywhere. I needed these to remove brake pad retaining pins on an e-class merc. I used the 3mm drift it bent straight away but don't worry the metal is soft enough that you can bend it back to straight (ish) numerous times! strange for hardened steel!. Eventually it snapped and didn't budge the pin, ended up using a small round file as a drift as this was hardened steel and that worked. My advise if its a hard job avoid this set.

Average set smaller ones bend quite easily

Bought these as an intermediate between the extra cheapy sets and the £50+ facom type. Shouldn't have bothered. The tips are as rough as a donkey's hind leg, and I for one won't be using them on anything I own.Needless to say I've requested a full refund including P&P - shame I can't get compensation for the time I've wasted in my life.
