A really enjoyable read.
A great book written by a great man. I have loved Richard E since Withnail and I. Richard writes with a lot of love for his wife who was dying whist he wrote this book. A very amusing and very heart warming.

Heartwarming and brilliant
Really wasn't sure what to expect, however having been an avid fan of REG and his work for many years, a 'behind the scenes' look at him seemed too good to miss. This book, however, unveiled itself to be touching, compassionate, and incredibly open and honest. It's an overwhelmingly emotional true love story about a 'perfect match' couple. The heartache you'll feel is real, paired with teachings throughout that'll remind you to strive for happiness and a fulfilled life, always. It's a privilege to have read something so meaningful. A true tribute to a wonderful person, written by an eloquent and warm devotee.Wonderful.

Touching personal book
I'm not generally an autobiography reader, and this was bought as a gift for a family member, who really enjoyed it and described it as very touching and personal tinged with heartbreak but very well written

Touching and heartbreaking in equal measure
What a glorious depiction of a life full of love and the loss of someone so precious. I don’t know REG but I would congratulate him heartily for this book. It made me weep ferociously. How can a book about people you don’t know do that to you? So well written. Devoid of pomposity or a ‘poor me’.Loss is so personal but I feel I got to fully understand how truly awful but beautiful this experience has been for Richard and Oilly and their friends and family. A remarkable book. Read it!

Beautiful love story and tribute
What i loved about this book is you really got to know his wife. Richard's detailed memories and descriptions of Joan made you feel like you'd have loved her if you had met her. I read this book on the way home from Australia and had to put it down a few times as didn't want to wake up other passengers with either crying or laughter. It was so nice to read a book about a Hollywood star who had a normal loving relationship which was down to earth. I will definitely read more from Richard if he writes more autobiographies as he has such wit and isn't boring

Touching, honest and heartbreaking.
I absolutely adored this beautiful book. I’ve been a fan of Richard’s for years and couldn’t wait to read this touching book. The devotion he shows in his words, to Joan his wonderful wife is so phenomenal. I could relate to many of the pages describing her cancer condition, however my diagnosis isn’t terminal thankfully.Olivia and Richard have a terrific relationship and the love and admiration they had for Joan’s courage throughout her illness was admirable. They propped one another up constantly throughout the diagnosis.Joan was a plucky humorous lady throughout, and was obviously so loved by everyone who’s life she touched. I laughed and I sobbed throughout this book. Thank you Richard for sharing this extremely emotional journey, I loved reading about your courageous Joan.
