Ballet For Dummies REFRESH

This is the usual Dummies format, words interlaced with humour.However, it is let down by poor quality photographs. They are all black and white, often small about 5cm square and grainy and of poor quality. Where a subject like ballet and its movements is crying out for high quality, colour, large images, so the reader can see the position of the important parts of the body, you are left with grainy poor-quality photos. These detract from the overall readability of the book and the ability to learn the specifics from it.

This book is great for adults with an interest of ballet or who is just starting ballet class. This book is great explains everything very well and has a lot of information on the subject of ballet. The book doesn't use a lot of classical ballet terminology compared with other ballet books I've read which is ideal for beginners. If you are newbie to the ballet world you will learn a lot. I highly recommend it if your just starting out in ballet.

I wanted a book to teach me about the history of ballet, the famous ballet plots, the famous music, the performers. This book does almost none of that. It teaches ballet steps in detail in case you want to learn ballet. I don't. I guess if you do it would be OK. But if you want a broad-scope look at ballet, this is not your book.
