Still the best
The aesthetic of these pans is second to none in my opinion. They are robust, stack nicely and the lids do position to create a small air gap if required (someone stated otherwise, that is in correct). If you're reading this you're probably already pretty set on these pans as they're best on the market and at 340 quid if memory serves, the set of 5 is outstanding value. All-Clad is a competitor but they dont stock well in the UK. My chief criticisms (if i must) are as follows:This set contains a 26cm diameter deep casserole (which is a thing of beauty), i wish the Le Creuset range had a few larger (deep) pans than this. They have a 30cm shallow casserole which i bought seperately, and a 28cm (might be getting my measurements wrong here) 'deep' sauteuse pan, but all of these large pans are basically the same volume, around 6 litres. So when youre feeding many guests etc you likely need to resort to other pans, which is a pity as id have liked to extended this set to include some (say) 10 and 15 litre pans for large curries and soups, they would look even more spectacular at these sizes. The Le Creuset branding is etched into the handles, which could in time fill with dirt, albeit this may just accentuate the branding so may even be quite attractive. These pans are sandwiched stainless-aluminium-stainless the entire length of the base and walls, so they do cook differently than many cheap single ply stainless plans which are only good for boiling water frankly. It is very attractive with stainless pans that you must learn to cook with 'the bind' i.e. the bits that start to burn onto the pan that add concentrated flavour to your dishes. You must therefore standover dishes and watch them with a greater imperative than with non-stick pots. So dont buy these if you are after a pretty set of pans but cannot cook or are not interested in creating additional work for yourself standing around in the kitchen. It takes a little recalibrating of your cooking technique, but im pleased to say that with the thick sandwich construction it is not as quick to burn food on as i had feared, it has been an easier transition from non stick to stainless than i imagined. Although there is still a critical 10 minute window in cooking most (for example) curries, where you need to realise it is binding to the bottom, and then turn the heat down. This does mean standing around for the first 30-40min over a dish so you actually closely supervise it coming to the boil.Final comment, nigh on all of the pans in this set of 5 have double rather than long single handles. They store well, but i slightly miss long handles for a few of these sizes, i will no doubt expand the set to include some.I dont believe there is a more functional or attractive set of stainless pans than these, at any price. At 343 pounds theyre exceptional value.

Impressive quality
I needed to replace my non-stick pans and was a bit wary of moving to stainless steel ones. I'd heard lots of stories about them being difficult to use, sticking lots, or the steel eroding quickly.I've been using these for a few months now though, and haven't had any of these problemsJust make sure the pan is heated with oil before adding any food, and then nothing will stick (although I'd never try to cook eggs in them). Also don't add salt to cold water, just add it to hot liquid so it dissolves quickly and isn't sitting on the bottom of the pan which can cause corrosion.Other than that, they're easy to use and clean. Any markings scrub off with a bit of dish soap and are super shiny again. More stubborn stains you can use a bit of vinegar, or bar keepers friend, I've only had to use vinegar once after overcooking some rice which left imprints on the surface.Even just holding them, you can feel the pans and handles are superb quality. I'm fully expecting these pans to last a good 10 years, but with good care maybe even 20

Superb sturdy pans
I bought the three pan set exactly one year ago. Here are pictures of the pans today, after a year of use. I use the middle sized one almost every day, and the other two four or five times a week. They are always cleaned in the dishwasher on a normal cycle. As you can see, there are some scuffs from usage, but overall they are still in very good condition.I was initially concerned about not getting non-stick pans as I usually had done before. However, these are a joy to use. The only issue with marks - I once let some oil heat up for too long in one pan and it made a yellow stain. However, it went after a few runs through the dishwasher as I used the pan again with the stain. They retain heat very well, so once heated you can turn down the power. I use on an electric hob. The lids don't have holes, so you have to balance them slightly if you want to let steam out. I don't find the pan handles get at all hot, and the lids not much.Very happy with them, and I recommend them. The Le Creuset non-stick pan I have hasn't aged so well, but these stainless steel ones are great. I'd keep the non-stick for frying, and these for everything else.

Good value, if bought in the sales
I bought this in the sales at around 40% off the normal asking price and with that in mind it’s good value. I would not pay full price if my life depended on it though. One saucepan had a fault - a rattling noise from within the wall of the pan, like some loose metal. Amazon offered a refund but by this time the price had gone back up so I couldn’t replace it at the same price I’d originally bought it for. I contacted Le Creuset directly in the end and they sent me a replacement so I was very impressed with this.Overall I love the pans. They look smart, retain heat amazingly, and are essentially non stick. Not having a glass lid takes some getting used to. If you fill the pan too full, it will boil over but if you don’t use too much water then you can leave the lid on while cooking.I would recommend these pans but would not pay the current asking price unless money was no object.
