I see a lot of bad reviews on quality, does anyone know if they are better built now? Has there been a quality control or design improvement?

You must be working for a company that does not make or represent the Powerbuilt name. By your question about quality, you are going off of rumors and gossip.I have been in the very dangerous employment of glazing, sandblasting, industrial coating, waterproofing, painting, industrial and commercial building repair, and skyscraper window washing. Powerbuilt tools, and especially this #640912 keeps me verysafe, better than a car jack alone or a jack stand alone. Look up what the Fire Departments and first responders use at your local Safety Equipment Supplier.Look up the Fisk Descender, a safety device made by my previous employer and inventor, Brian Fisk. We used this safety device to descend from buildings andCranes, and Holding Tanks at the Refineries. I pressure washed 8 to 10 story buildings hanging to prep them for coating or waterproofing or caulking. What is the exact measurement of this jack? For storage purpose.

I measured it in half light so do not bet the farm on the answer but it should be close. The base is 9"X9" and it is nearly 13" tall. That will get you close.

The saddle design was changed on the 6000 lb. unit jack so that you can lift from the riser and you can lift from the saddle straight over the hydraulic piston giving a more rigid level structure.
