Let me start off by saying. I really like these pencils. I use a very sharp pencil sharpener, and they sharpen very nicely.

How different are these from the other pastels?

I find them to be softer then the average pastel pencil. I as surprised to see how well they work . I would definitely recommend them .

I have been very pleased with my Derwent pencils. The hold up well when sharpening. I have not had trouble with broken lead after sharpening. Love my Derwent pencils.

Lovely pastels

The media could not be loaded. I am not very familiar with pastels, but had a great time creating a portrait of my dog. These are really nice soft pastels to use and they sharpen quite well.

Very good for the price

These are not bad at all for the price, although I prefer Caran D'ache, but then you would pay a premium for the later. They do feel a little scratchy but work well. If they are the only ones in your budget then I don't think you would be disappointed.

I have faber castle pastels and imo these are a lot better, the black is as black as you can get and the white is super bright, so soft and blend amazing. I love them
