Royal & Langnickel Artist Painting Chest Premier Set, White

The first impressions of this product, once out of the box, are of the lovely rich mahogany colour of the chest. It looks impressive and you feel that you have purchased a quality product even though the hinges etc. are not solid brass fittings and the straps around the chest are simulated leather. The contents are a very comprehensive selection of media for oil, water and acrylic painting with some sketching equipment included as well. Just about all eventualities are covered and whilst the paints are not 'professional' quality they are ideal for anyone who wants to experiment and discover which medium they would prefer to work in. The only thing that is not included is any support onto which to paint - canvas boards and watercolour pads are easily picked up from one of the many high street stationery/art shops at a very reasonable price (or use a primed piece of hardboard for the acrylic and oil paints). Overall a fantastic set which will soon become a prized possession.

This is a fantastic gift piece. When setting out to choose an art set as a gift I went over quite a few on Amazon before deciding to purchase this one and I must say I was thrilled when it arrived. It is very solidly built and looks magnificent when out. It also has an enormous selection of both colors and media types allowing those who are beginning to try their hands at everything. It really does make an impression when presented to an art lover, and it absolutely blows away similar pieces price-wise, some sets of paints or markers alone were significantly more than this while being no greater in quality. The one thing I would say is while the box over all is extremely sturdy, the strength of the drawer bottoms could be improved. But overall very pleased with the product,

I ordered this a few years ago and it is an absolute treat. I was sent a second one in error later in place of another Royal and Langnickel box set, and after I was offered a part refund, I kept the chest. I’ve been waiting to use these as they are the best items in my rather large collection of paint kits. I’ve just bought a holiday home which is a perfect excuse to take my spare chest, relax and paint whilst overlooking the beautiful Scottish scenery. This set is wonderful, well made with a great assortment of paints and brushes. My only complaint is the bottles of linseed oil included had to be removed from the chests as they were laid down and started to leak. Did not want to ruin wooden box!!! I would highly recommend this multi media chest if you want to buy a special gift for a special person. I love it, well, both of them!!!

When it came I was worried on certain things but no! It is incredibly beautiful, built really well and has that really nice wooden stain smell, it comes with oil, water and acrylic paints and paint brushes even oil knives! Fair enough they're plastic but who cares? The people that place it down due to "cheap looking wood" and "faux leather straps" are just seemingly picky, I honestly see it as a gorgeous build and I'm sure that when all these paints are used up the box will hold all my other paints and brushes easy! This is better then any Faber-Castell set. Better for money also! Really pleased for this product!

Very pleased overall but dissapointed at scuff marks and small chips on box and box a bit rough but otherwise lovely.

This is a really lovely item. The box is a beautiful faux mahogany and the contents are good quality. The paints are not professional quality but, hey, you wouldn't be buying this for a professional! My adult son has recently taken up painting and this is a present for him. He is going to love it! The only thing I would have liked included is a watercolour palette. But they are easily found. All in all, top notch and a really good price.

Great set for novice artists, containing oil, acrylic and watercolour paints, along with pencils (HB&2B only), palette knives, palette etc. The box is sturdy and looks high quality with multiple draws for paints and general artist aids. Very pleased with purchase would highly recommend.

Purchased this for a person that dabbled with sketching and painting. She was delighted with it. It provides the opportunities to try three different mediums and a good selection of basic accessories. I felt it was value for money. The ordering process and delivery were easy and quick. Me llegó en perfectas condiciones; por sacar una pega diría que uno de los botes de acuarela negra ha llegado ligeramente doblado, por lo demás, muy bien. Es algo más pequeña de lo que esperaba por las fotos, muy compacta y transportable. Muy contento con la compra la verdad. Me queda por comprobar la calidad en sí de las pinturas que, en caso de que sean malas, vendré a comentarlo. Buen producto, y la gestión de Amazon perfecta como siempre.

The Royal & Langnickel Premier Painting Chest Deluxe Art Set really is as nice as it looks in the pictures. The chest itself is attractive dark wood with brass tone fittings. It's fairly solid - although it may not be built for the ages, it doesn't feel flimsy either. There is a drop panel in the front that hides two storage drawers. When using the chest on a table, the front panel is positioned in such a way that the bottom drawer is slightly impeded, but a bit of fiddling will allow you to open and fully extend the bottom drawer. Included inside are a variety of paints - oils, acrylics, and water colors (both tubes and cakes). The paints are fresh; the texture and consistency are pleasant and easy to apply. The colors are good with rich pigments. Brushes for each type of paint (oil, acrylic and water color) are included, too. Royal and Langnickel specialize in brushes, so these are above the quality you might expect in an average boxed set. There is a row of holes in the top of the chest, which allows you to stand the brushes upright - a very nice touch that you won't find when you're using a tackle box for your art supplies. The box also includes sketching supplies - pencils, sharpener, and eraser. The bottom line is that the chest is something you'll be proud to own and it comes with an excellent set of basic art supplies. It's not inexpensive but it is a good value for the money. Recommended.
