McAlpine BSKTOP Basket Strainer Waste Plug, Stainless Steel

Perfect replacement plug for my kitchen sink. It's an old Ikea sink so they no longer sell this plug.

Thank you for the line-drawing diagram. I screen-captured and scaled it off to assess the rubber sealing section. The actual rubber measures 4.5 cm diameter at the sink drain end and tapers upwards to a slightly larger diameter underneath the steel strainer part. Perfect fit. Needs a firm push to locate in the drain.

Bought this as a last hope it would fit my Ikea 10 year old sink. Read reviews that it may or may not do, and decided to chance it.It does not. Can't believe it's impossible to buy a replacement plug. Makes a neat strainer, just does not seal.

I didn't see that this was a different fitting to my sink. My mistake, Have to say that the item is superior to the quality of the one I need to replace. Delighted with the vendors. Thank you

I bought this based on a lot of the reviews. I also have the same type of plug for my sink here when I moved in. I measured it so I assumed it would fit as the measurements were the same and the style the same. Ok so It's only £4.50 but.... this did fit but it did NOT SEAL. Does not matter how hard i push it in the hole it will not seal tight to stop water draining through. So it's ok as a plug to stop vegies etc going down the sink but do not expect it to seal so you can fill your sink with water. It is impossible to test as it comes in a little sealed bag so you can't test it before opening and trying. Luckily amazon credited me back. It's a shame that they dont tell you this, you should be able to try but once you return you have to then pay RETURN postage as it is not an fulfilled by Amazon and so it is not worth it. Seems totally unfair really on the buyer.

This seals the plug hole perfectly to hold water but when used as a strainer to trap food it fails badly unless the food bits are large. Cooked rice for example will simply fall through the holes/gaps and go down the drain instead of being stopped. This made this product unfit for this particular purpose. The other thing is that it wasn't the right size for my plug hole. It was a little smaller than the plug hole so food again found its way into the plug hole by going down the sides. When pushed down to seal the plug hole, it works perfectly and water will remain in the sink. This was not the main purpose of buying it in my case though. So for a strainer, its quite useless but as a plug hole blocker, perfect!
