This is good quality cayenne: good flavor, respectable heat. We use cayenne mostly in our hot chocolate blend and a few other recipes and for medicinal purposes. Cayenne has a lot of health benefits - it's our go-to when someone gets a cut. It will stop the bleeding quickly (pour it on or dip the cut in it). Decent price, too.

Product is great, relatively cheap for the amount of Cayenne you get, it has great color, great flavor, great heat. A little will go a long ways so this product should last quite a long time. I use about 1 teaspoon to flavor a pan full of chicken. It was enough to give it a perfect amount of heat without overwhelming the other flavors. Would definitely recommend purchasing this product to anyone, and will purchase again myself when I run out. Package: This arrived in a silver ziplock bag. The outside of the bag clearly states it is 1lb. You could easily keep it in the bag since it is a ziplock, but I purchased several 10 1/8 canning jars to place my spices in. The 1lb bag filled 3.5 jars(roughly 35 ounces) if that gives you a better idea of the amount of spice you are purchasing. The pure volume of spice is quite a bit, but add on top of that how potent this stuff is and one bag will last you a very long time. As mentioned above a single teaspoon is enough to flavor a full pan of chicken and give it a decent amount of heat (and I enjoy heat). A tablespoon of this in a similar pan of chicken was too much heat. What I really love about this spice is that it adds great heat without drowning all the other flavors. Even when I used a tablespoon and it was really too much heat for the dish, it still didn't drown out all the other flavors. I can't say how much I really enjoy this spice, this is hands down the best quality spice I have in my cabinet. I would highly recommend this purchase to anyone looking for some high quality Cayenne and based on this purchase I would recommend Starwest spices period. I will be looking for other starwest spices myself in the near future.

I, like probably most other people, have been buying my Cayenne Pepper in the grocery stores, paying $6 to $7 dollars for a small bottle of cayenne pepper, whose origin and age and freshness have always been questions in the back of my mind. Well, I figured I'd take the plunge and purchase this 16 ounce (1 pound) bag on Amazon. I am NOT disappointed in the least. When I opened the bag of Starwest Botnicals Organic Cayenne Pepper, the aroma leaped out, and it really said "Cayenne Pepper"! A little taste on the tip of my finger screamed "Cayenne Pepper!" The product is fresh, the product is delicious, and really blows the regular national brands found at the supermarket right out of the water! There is no comparison. Now, as to storage: The bag is resealable with a zipper-type seal. I take a regular spice jar (from a used jar of cayenne pepper), and keep that filled. I use cayenne with relative frequency, so it does not go stale for me, but I take the zip bag of cayenne, and put another bag over it and seal that tightly, and keep the bag in the freezer; that way, I know it will keep fresh. I plan on reordering this again and again, because the quality is there, and the vibrant flavor is beyond compare, other than getting fresh cayenne peppers, drying them and pounding them to powder yourself... but who has time for that????? Anyway, buy with confidence! You will not be disappointed!

Very HOT! My attic squirrel hates it. I use (a little) to season everything from eggs to home made salsa. Be careful of the heat. Having lived in NM for years I like hot food, and I still have to watch it. You know... you can add more, but removing it is just not gonna happen. I do like the flavor, but that's a personal thing. The best chilis are full of flavor, and for dried powder this stuff is pretty good. After reading the posts, I have begun to take some as a health additive, a little in a gelcap. No comment on that either way, other than I didn't get heartburn. Did I mention it's HOT? So I am slowly upping my dose; likely that's the recommended way to use it. I can't stress this enough. You CAN'T leave any spill or cloth you used to clean up a spill laying around. oh, yeah, don't vacuum it with a shop vac, either. I tried that, and threw the filter away. As I said, I bought it as a surprise gift for the attic squirrel and he hates it, though it worked great with a mask, goggles and a powder abrasive sprayer on low (20 psi) to 'gift' him in his home. But I didn't think about my clothes. A rub and a lick and I was in the shower, with the clothes in the washer before I got to the shower. I'm thick skinned but wearing clothes was the right choice. I'm just sayin... My squirrel has decided to move, but I'm not sure for how long yet. I plan to add some grease/cayenne powder mix around his entrance. Even if you just shake it out, Wear a mask. Wear goggles. Glasses are not enough. It's hot.

The taste if good and the product has been consistent. I put it in my food as a digestion aid since it increases HCL in the stomach which we need for digestion but as we get older less is made by our bodies. The one question I wondered about is the inner part of the package made of aluminum a known poison and prevents nutrient digestion?

So I've been hearing about cayenne and how it promotes circulation. At 64 I'm seeing signs of blood flow troubles so I gave this a try. Even though it's just been a week I notice the 'thermogenic effect' it has and my body is absorbing the taste nicely. I've always liked spicy hot foods but never directly used cayenne in anything but chili. Now I use it in my coffee along with organic cacao and it's been making me feel better.

Worst Cayenne powder I have ever had! I feel like red-brick powder might be spicier (facePalm)! If it is truly organic & you don't mind spending a little more to get a powder that is equal or less spicy than your regular chili powder, go ahead & pull the trigger. I will not be buying this sadness ever again. Eg. I make a mayo dip for fries and one of the seven ingredients I use is a Quarter Teaspoon of proper Cayenne but with this, I had to use TWO Tablespoons!

Starwest Botanicals Organic Cayenne Pepper is superb cayenne pepper. It has a great smell and taste. It mixes will for my daily cayenne drink mixed with lemon juice and maple syrup. It is is an excellent soup boost. It gives a nice little kick to otherwise boring food. Love it!!

arrived early from usa...only six days with the free delivery..much cheaper than uk pepper..i have lost eight pounds in the last two weeks by taking a level teaspoon mixed with half a squeezed lemon and half a glass of water three times a day...great product,great price

Both my wife and I use Cayenne in alot of our foods. We take a shaker of it to restaraunts. Here in Crete Greece they do not know what hot is. It is great on popcorn or to make your own cajun spice.
