Needed to sew a split seam of a canvass cover. Did the job well.

I used this to repair our gazebo which is quite old, but as we were not able to purchase a replacement cover I decided to mend our old one. The stitching had broken on one of the seems and I restitched about 20 inches using the waxed thread. The awl came in handy where the canvas was thick and I used it to make a hole for a needle to pass through.I am very pleased with the result and very glad I didn't throw the cover away.

Repaired my trampoline using this awl. Given it a new lease of life.

Idea for my intention

Needle snapped after a few stitches into canvas. Leather would be ok I assume if you punched holes first. Worked well when it did right up until it didn't. Spend a bit more or upgrade to quality machine needles. The auto ones with built in reel will make it easier to. Had to be tightened with pliers to stop the needle slipping.

A very simple needle. Prime delivery, and I've just used it to stitch a canvass tent strap back together after it gave way. Thread appears to be very strong, and the straight needle went through the thick canvass strap with no issues at all. Definitely recommended.

I just received the sewing awl today. On my last one, the needle broke and it was cheaper to get the whole set again instead of just the needle I need. It held up for a long time during some heavy sewing with canvas material. Probably more my fault than the needle as I was sewing at an odd angle and putting pressure at the middle of the needle. The thread that comes with it is not much but I only got it as an extra.

Everything is fine and works nicely. Strong and good. Came early too
