Best I've Ever Had
I'm delighted with this. I'd say it was designed by someone who thought very carefully about the annoying shortcomings of other digital scales, and the result is well worth any extra money. The batteries are inexpensive and easy to find, and you can use rechargeable ones. The display is illuminated and shows large numbers, making it blissfully easy to read. You can use practically anything as a scale pan, including a medium-sized plate, without obscuring the display. You can use it without a scale pan, making it handy for letters etc. as well as kitchen use. When not in use, it takes up very little worktop space. The large, stainless-steel bowl supplied is elegant and useful, even if you don't use it as a scale pan.I've tested it with known weights and it's quite accurate.I was sad when my old scales finally gave up the ghost but, considering the advantages of these, I'm rather pleased they did.

More scale adventures...
I have been on a bit of a mission to find decent scales of late. Three pairs of Salter scales failed quite quickly and although 2 were replaced under guarantee, the last pair went in the bin as I was fed up with them failing after a relatively short time (a couple of months in the case of the last pair). I tried a pair of James Martin ones which were OK, but the display was quite hard to see in some conditions and so I moved on to the Duronic KS5000.The actual scales are quite small and compact. The mixing bowl seems quite well made, but I have only used my existing plastic bowls so far. The bowl is a nice "extra" but not essential. The display is great, large and bright, so can be seen even with a dusting of flour on it. The graduations for imperial also make a quick and rough conversion easy, although I usually only need grams. They start up quickly, much quicker than the James Martin pair and the measurement seems to be quicker too. The "quicker" measurement means it's easy to measure small amounts or get that last 1g to register when adding ingredients. My only dislike is that the buttons are on the actual weighing platform, so pressing the button also affects the sensors. This is a minor issue and one that is only solved by spending a lot on a commercial pair of scales, which then need a large space to store them (you can't have everything!).UPDATE - Autumn 2016 - Scales still going strong, used at least weekly and on a second set of batteries.

Excellent display size.
These scales have a really easy to see and read display. The stainless bowl is sturdy and washes well in the dishwasher. What is also great is that the scales don't take up a lot of room in the cupboard.

EASY TO SEE WHAT YOU'RE MEASURING!
Smashing scales! The bowl is lovely and big and the numbers on the face are really large and clear so you can easily see what you're measuring! I also love the way you can change from grams to ounces etc with just the push of a button. Easy peasy to use and the actual base takes up hardly any space at all. Highly recommended!

Love the big bold bright display
Reasonable small foot print but the display is like a breath of fresh air. Big bold and bright and super easy to read. No more squinting under what ever it is you are trying to weigh at a dark single line lcd display. Uses AAA batteries rather than coin cells. You can use which ever bowl takes your fancy and just re zero the scales which makes cleaning up a breeze. Accuracy is good as well. Really pleased with these.
