Great pencil
I searched for a while to find this mechanical pencil. I use it for chart plotting and I wanted something with a robust/quality feel but without spending too much, this was the sweet spot. It has a reassuring weight to it and the grip feels higher quality than a lot of plastic pencils. It writes very nicely with the 2B leads I use. Whilst it’s not that important I like the design of it too!

I love this pencil
I have been a huge fan of Rotring since I first purchased a Tikky 2. They were simple to use, and great for those of us who prefer writing in pencil! I used the Tikkys for a while before taking the plunge and buying a Rapid Pro in chrome. That is a great pencil but I actually would now say save your money and get a 500 instead! The plastic body makes the pencil a little less straining on the hand (especially if using it for maths problems like I do) than the full metal Rapid Pro or 600 but still retains the quality feel. It looks and feels fantastic. The slight downside is that you don't get the cushioned lead so it is a little more prone to lead breaks, for that reason I went for the 0.7mm instead of the 0.5mm. If you're buying a pencil for sketching or notes, or something where you have time to take a bit of care then the 600 or Rapid Pro is a great choice. If you want something you could write frenetically, for hours, with then go for this. You won't be disappointed.

Great pencil
This is a great pencil. I started using mechanical pencils a few months a go and now use them for everything and don't even carry a pen with me anymore. This pencil is very well weighted with the metal grip and plastic body allowing me to uses it for hours straight with out any fatigue. the mechanism for pushing the lead out is the best i have used in any pencil, and its easy to refill. The twisty bit at the top is a nice addition, especially if you have multiple of these pencils with different types of leads (HB, 2B, F and whatnot). The only problem I've had with it is the lead it came with. its was to gray and it didn't produce writing with good contrast, but that was easily fixed with some Pental super lead. I totally recommend this pencil who is going to be lots of writing for multiple hours with out much break in between.

HONEST REVIEW NO SUGARCOATING
I would honestly say this is probably the only pencil you'll ever need. It's as smooth as writing with a pen, any 0.5/0.7mm refillable works with it and I believe they're pretty cheap. It's not too heavy to hold not too light either. However the only thing I'm having a long time getting used to is the grip part. It's a bit too grippy for my liking it feels like my fingers get stuck when i grip it, but this could honestly be a me problem and not you. Overall - Great product, I would say just try it out and my point still stands that it's the only pencil you'll ever need with the addition of refillables. Why argue about the price-point if it's the only one you'll be using.

Great value.
Before this 500 arrived from Japan I bought 2 Rotring 600's from English suppliers. I am very pleased with both pencils. I thought I would be disappointed with the 500 when it arrived but I wasn't. It is as much a quality instrument as the 600. Although I prefer the extra weight of the all metal 600 the plastic barrel of this one does not detract from it's performance. The Knurled metal grip feels identical to the black 600's but the plastic barrel has (only just) slightly less grip than the black 600 but better grip than the silver model. In case you think I am biased in favour of Rotring's, I enjoy using all of my (20+) mechanical pencils and leadholders, Pentel, Staedtler, Faber-Castell, Koh-I-Noor etc but the 500 stands out because of it's cost to quality ratio. Highly recommended

this is the best pencil I have ever owned
OK, this is the best pencil I have ever owned. I have a condition which makes writing with pen a disaster. i have used pencils for over 30yrs of my life and I can boldly say this is the best Pencil ever. Is beautiful, sturdy and well made. It arrived as promised though not keen about how it was wrapped in the plastic bag but that does not change the fact that it as an awesome piece of engineering. Thank you

rotring
This was supposed to be a 'buy again'. But it wasn't. My previous two pencils came with refill leads, but this did not. Nothing wrong with the pencil it is not a 'buy again'.

Pencil is awesome. Nice firm body. Metal grip serves the purpose. But, the seller (Amazon.ae) sent the pencil without any box. Only a pencil in bubble wrap.

Prefer this to the 600. The weight is just right and the pencil itself is a bit grippier. And it’s a third of the cost of a 600
