It's recommended that you wire to a weatherproof switch or connector box. However, if you wish to use a plug use a 3 or 5 amp fuse.

yes, i am using it continuously, one deep in the pond and second on top in the skimmer. The one in the skimmer run dry twice, because the water level got low during hot summer and it just stopped. i filled up the pond again with water. stopped the pump and started it up again and everything was fine. Pump continued to work flawlessly.

These pumps are water cooled so need to be submersed in at least 6 inches of water
