What colours are provided

101 White, 106 light chrome yellow, 109 dark chrome yellow, 118 scarlet red, 151 helio blue reddish, 167 permanent green olive, 168 earth green olive, 283 burnt Sienna, 199 black, 140 light ultramarine, 127 pink carmine. Amazon have the wrong description of what colours you get.

Does they have skin tones

Hi, I only have the box of 24 pastel pencils and depending on what skin tone you are looking for, there are only two light skin colours but the bigger tin of 60 has many more. But they are pastels after all, so I would be using other colours blended together to achieve a true range of skin tone values and they do blend really well together. I hope this helps.

I want something that will smudge and blend well for backgounds to my adult colouring books. Will these fit the bill?

These pastel pencils were on the recommended list from my art instructor (who specialises in pastel paintings) and are brilliant for finer details, once the background of your painting has been established. They will blend, as they are softer than normal colouring pencils, however if you really want good smudging and blending for a background, I would thoroughly recommend Sennelier pastel crayons. These are soft crayons which look a little like coloured pieces of chalk, but are soft, almost crumbly and come in the deepest and most subtle of colours. They will blend and smudge extremely well. I ordered these also through Amazon. They are fairly expensive as they are good quality - the softer, the more expensive, I find - so I bought a box of 40 assorted half pastels, which gave a brilliant assortment of colours. Are these better than the derwent pastel pencils or carbothello one?

I haven’t used the Derwent or Carbothello pencils. I’m no great artist but attended (before Lockdown) art classes where I live. I bought on recommendation of our teacher. I remember as an 11 year old persuading my Father to buy this make of colouring pencils (they cost 17s 6d. Which my Father thought was very expensive in 1951). The box contained 36 pencils and I still had some small stubs when I left at 18 to go to College. So I do believe they are quality pencils and apparently good for smudging, hatching & cross hatching and for use with fixatives. Hope this helps.

Another Faber-Castell winner

I bought these to compliment my other Faber Castell ranges of pencils and I have to say that like all of the Faber Castell I have tried they are very nice, the colours in the pastel range are lovely and they are very easy to use. That said I keep reading that they were designed to provide Pastel pencils that require little or no fixing and yet I will be fixing mine as I really cannot tell that they are any different in that aspect to the various other pastels I have tried in the past, however I am still quite a novice with pastels so it might be something that I am doing rather than the pencils so I will have to see how that spans out as I gain more experience.

Good for fine details

I use these along with the CarbOthello pencils, these are firmer and good for fine details that don't require much blending.

They’re very good

The pastels work very well! You can sharpen them to quite a fine point, when I sprayed with hairspray they stuck very well and could layer the only thing that holds me back from a 5 star review is the selection of colours I would have preferred for a different shade of brown because it is quite orange or some colours that would’ve been more suitable for skin tones (I know you can mix them but it would be more convenient especially in exchange for one of the greens or pinks because they are a lot easier to mix) overall very good especially for beginners!!

Beautiful colors & great pencils. As pastel pencils the colors are soft. I use them on their sides to keep the from breaking. If I need to use the tip, I make sure to have a short sharp tip but do not put a lot of pressure so the point does not break. These will last me a long time.

Ich habe pastellstifte gebraucht da diese sich sehr gut verschmieren lassen und sehr farbintensiv sind. Die Stifte sind sehr gut für einen schwarzen Hintergrund geeignet wenn man sich ausprobiert und versteht wie es funktioniert. Viel Spaß beim Zeichnen:)
