It's a lot thicker than it looks - I use mine on conservatory floor which is floor tiles and it is comfortable

No I have been using these mats for a number of months and they seem to be pretty resilient to being moved from class to class, with no apparent damage through usage and transportation. I even use the small spikey massage balls on them and there is no sign of wear or tear.
