A must purchase!!!
I purchased this set back in December for my 4 year old. He’s in reception and absolutely hated reading the books he got from school , it was very dreadful and stressful seeing him frustrated and myself. At that point he was only beginning to learn his phonics . My soon to be 5 year old has now completed the 18 books, mind you I we were not that consistent but manage to finish them. He knows his phonics and has to my knowledge perfect blending of 3-5 letter words with no assistance. His confidence is so much better. If I ask him rather he prefers to write or read a book he chooses to read instead (a good and bad sign I guess) since we now have to spend extra time in the writing dept. My son is also speech delay up to a year and learning to read has also improve in this area , he is not very interested in schooling so it’s tough and the fact that he now knows how to read basic books is a light at the end of the tunnel. I will def be getting all the other advance stages. By the way his teacher has also commented on his great reading progress, he now reads the school books with so much ease.

Excellent for teaching your child to read
My daughter (nearly 4) is very comfortable with her alphabet - largely thanks using to LeapFrog Fridge Phonicsfor the past year or 2.I bought these books to go the next step, and take advantage of her interest in letters and words. Schools are all using phonics to teach reading these days, so to fit in with what they learn at school, do use a phonics system. They are perfect. 12 very short books based on (book 1) 4 sounds, and adding 2-3 sounds for subsequent books. A few minutes work will finish the book.Make sure your child is reading ready first. A sound knowledge of the alphabet, and an interest in words is important. Ensure that they know the phonic (sound of the word) and not just the letter name. You will need an understanding of phonics yourself - not all of us learned to read this way - and some sense of how to blend the sounds to make a word. A "teach your child to read" book may help you with this. ( Teach Your Child To Read : A Phonic Reading Guide for Parents and Teachers is one resource. I haven't read it personally.)The child is learning a challenging new skill. You will need patience. Make it into a game as far as possible (My wife is better than me at this - racing to see who can get the word first - but daughter usually wins!) and keep it light hearted. It is important that it is fun.I am finding that one read of a book is insufficient. The books are challenging on first view. Book 3 was definitely a struggle, but on revisiting book 1, my daughter read it from end to end with barely any help. The joy on her face when she finished - to appropriate cheers from mum & dad - was a sight to remember! If your child is not ready, put the books away for a few months. Reading skills reap their full reward when it is fun.

Perfect for learning to read
I was given these books as a gift for my younger son who had not shown much interest in reading. He loves these books and they reading helped to spark his love of reading. I have since re-gifted that pack and bought a couple more for other early readers. I always get excellent feedback.

Great for learning to read
Great for my 4 yeat old. These are similar to ones used in UK schools. Start off with a few 3 letter words on each page.

Good Product
I wish the books had more colour. Otherwise they make sense for a beginner. My daughter was proud of being able to read a whole book so she was encouraged to read more.

Great!
Great! I was looking for somthing more simple to teach my 4 year old how to start reading. Even tho these are American it doesnt seem to make a difference. My little one managed to sound out and read the word "mat" within a short time of reading the first book. 😀

Excellent buy quality product
My 4 year old recently had parents evening and his teacher was so impressed with his reading, phonics and blending sounds. I discovered these books through Jady A on YouTube. (Research her you won’t regret it!) combining Jady A’s techniques with these books has got my four year old reading to me! Highly recommend!
