No. This is not 550 paracord, And I would go so far as to say that Im not shore it's even real rather I think it might be fake as the inner core is fibrous and not individual strands. Though saying that it's perfect for my needs. I did not need the 550 cord. Hope this helps.

Mate...... Don't know the answer to that but if you need a guarantee of a breaking strain go buy some genuine 550 para cord for peace of mind, I use THIS stuff for tarps, shelters and other and general bush-craft type work and its perfect for that. Although when tripled/quadrupled up properly etc it can take my weight but your just asking for trouble, also its stretches like mad. So basically what ever reason you need to know how much it will take before snapping, and its that important to you then I suggest your probably looking at the wrong stuff. (Don't buy cheap if your going to depend on it that much) Kind RegardsM
