Amazing
I do not like short stories that well. But this is not a collection of short stories ... it is a collection of short observations and thoughts of life. In these brief writings , he is writing about the mundane and the everyday while also connecting them to deeper meaning.I seem to spend a lot of time sitting in my car ... waiting ... I am going to keep it in the car to read while waitingI have also used several of his observations in my psychology and interpersonal communications class

I don't think I've ever felt compelled to write a review on amazon before, but I adore this book. This is my first time reading Carroll. I purchased the book because it was reviewed well in Publishers Weekly. This is a compilation of Carroll's blogs/very short stories. His stories are poignant, and characters touching. I love being able to take 5 minutes and feel - sometimes - profoundly moved. I highly recommend this very satisfying experience.

Inner Workings
This is a really nice look into the way Jonathan Carroll writes. It reads like a daily journal of his thoughts. Even though it's mostly a repeat of his writings on The Medium, it's nice to have them all in a book.

Five Stars
Pure realism from one of the great masters of magical realism. And a tonic for our cynical times.

Pointless ramblings...
„The Crows Dinner“ is a collection of short texts by Jonathan Carroll that originally appeared on his website. In these Carroll is observing the mundane and the everyday while all too often trying to impose deeper meaning on these things or use them as a starting point for his mildly interesting musings. The main problem is that Jonathan Carroll observations are mostly shallow, his thoughts rather predictable and most of what he does is stating the obvious while scratching the surface. On closer inspection most of the book is pointless ramblings and it is obvious that the author is trying way too hard without ever reaching a point where his content becomes meaningful or worthwhile. I couldn't bring myself to finish this, even though I tried many times, but I simply was unable to stand another page of generic irrelevance blown out of proportion just for the sake of the very few genuine thoughts Carroll indeed does drop here and there.DNF@11%Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed in this review are mine and are neither influenced by the publisher nor the author.

The wonderful mind of Jonathan Carroll on tap
I love reading Jonathan Carroll's musings on FB so was delighted to see them compiled into a book that I could dip into when I needed a bit of something magical in my day. I can't get enough of seeing the world through his interesting lens - be it fiction or non-fiction. All wonderful!

Delicious treat
This book contain Carroll's online message, musings and short clip from his life. Small articles (many less than a page) make for light reading but leave you with either a smile or thinking. I love his work and for anyone who does this snap shot into his mind is a delicious treat.

The copy that I received was slightly "damaged". It appears that it was near moisture or humidity as the pages were warped. I need to give it as a gift tomorrow and have no time to return unfortunately. Hopefully they won't notice!
