The Digital Eye: Photographic Art in the Electronic Age

Visually Engaging
I received and read this book in the same day, today. This, succinct exploration of photography's trajectory begins by briefly examining the origins of the process, and the beginnings of the democratisation of the process and ending with how artists are taking the tools available and questioning photography's very foundations. The book is amply illustrated, but I feel some more depth on each artist's work may have made it a good solid read. Still I guess that given the mediums rapid change it would be difficult to research and write a book that covers the current state of play in the art world. This would make a good foundation text for any beginners photography course or a generalist introduction to what digital photograph can be and mean in the 21st century.
