Truly excellent headphones
Why did you pick this product vs others?:These are *really* excellent. I'm a big Sennheiser headphone user; I use (open-back over-ear, wired) HD595's all day long at my desk and their sound quality and comfort is a joy. My old bluetooth headphones have started falling apart so I started shopping around and while I eyeballed lots of <$100 headphones (and I'm sure they're fine) I decided to spend just under $200 on these (refurbished). So glad - they are fantastic. The noise cancellation is excellent; at full setting it really zaps ambient noise (not tried on a plane yet tho). The phone app lets you adjust everything you'd care about including disabling the touch controls on the earpieces and idle power-down, the EQ works well, the over-ear comfort is very good (extremely important to me). Voice calls using the built in mic sounds good (according the the callee). I only got them today (will edit this review if anything changes) but I'm extremely happy with my choice so far. Not sure I'd have paid $499 or whatever the original MSRP was but very good value for money at this refurbed price (and fwiw the packaging/extras/etc was immaculate)

The Upgrade I Didn’t Know I Needed
I came from using the Sony XM5s which are already considered top tier in the headphone game so I honestly was not expecting to be blown away by the refurbished Momentum 4s. But wow these things hit differently. The first thing I noticed was the sound quality. With the XM5s the bass is strong and the ANC is solid but it always felt like Sony was coloring the sound a little. The Momentums give you this beautifully clean and balanced audio that makes music sound alive. It is not just hearing the instruments it is feeling them. Vocals sit perfectly in the mix, the bass is punchy without muddying up the mids, and the highs sparkle without getting harsh. I am hearing details in songs I have listened to for years that I never picked up before.Comfort was another pleasant surprise. I was worried since these are refurbished but honestly they feel brand new. The build is sturdy, the earcups are soft, and they disappear on your head even during long listening sessions. Battery life is incredible. I used to babysit my XM5s to make sure they had enough juice for the day but the Momentum 4s last so long I have started forgetting to charge them.Noise cancellation is slightly different from Sony’s approach. It is not as aggressive but it feels more natural. I actually prefer this because I do not get that pressure in my ears feeling after hours of use.Bottom line, refurbished or not, these Momentum 4s are phenomenal. If you are an audiophile or just someone who appreciates truly premium sound they are worth every penny. I do not miss my XM5s one bit and I did not think I would ever say that.

An Amazing Set of ANC Headphones- with one catch
***Update 6/7: I BOUGHT THEM AGAIN.It's been a long haul to decide what headphones will work best for me, but at the end of the day, I really missed listening to the Momentum 4s. I gladly returned the ill-fitting Xm5s (I do also like the sound of these) so that I could have comfortable headphones again, and got them the same day via Prime delivery. One thing I would like to note is that when listening to Spotify on my iPhone, the overall volume is a little lower. When I played the same song on Apple Music, it sounded noticeably louder. Also, although the ANC is not as good as Sony (especially the Xm4s, the ANC on those was crazy good) there have been many times when my wife is having a full-on conversation with me and I haven't heard a thing until she comes over and taps my shoulder. All of the previous things I liked about the Momentum 4s are still very much true.Original Review:I'm sending my renewed Momentum 4s back because although I absolutely loved them, the overall volume was pretty low. I've been looking for headphones and testing different brands, including the Sony WH-1000XM4s and XM5s, and tried on the Bose QC45s and Bose 700s at Best Buy (which I am waiting until the QC Ultra comes out to get). When listening to either of the Sonys, the volume is great, and I have lots of room to increase the volume if I need to. With the Momentum 4s, I often had to bump up the volume to 80-90%, and most of the time had the volume at 75%. I did also purchase the Sennheiser True Wireless Momentum 3s which are similar, but are a bit louder, with the same clear sound.Things I liked/loved:-Momentum 4s are very comfortable, as I have a smaller head/ears and I am swimming in other headphones.- Battery life is amazing.- Connectivity worked great and so did multi-point.-Touch controls worked well for me, and I enjoyed that it was only one tap for play/pause.-I like the app way better than the Sony app, and after the last firmware update, the EQ and personalized sound worked really well for me.- The SOUND. These are excellent to listen to different genres, but if you love metal, these are for you. I heard things in songs I had never heard before, and vocals on metal songs sound way more clear.I hate to be returning these as there was so much I really enjoyed about them. I am keeping the Momentum True Wireless 3s, though- they sound just as good and have been excellent in all kinds of listening environments. If an overall lower volume doesn't bother you, I highly recommend them.
