We use dry and wet erase markers and have had no problems!

The discs measure 1”, 2”, and 3” in diameter.

Q: Are the weighted creature discs actually magnetic? One reviewer mentioned this, but nothing else (including the product description) does.

No, the disks are not magnetic... I wouldn't even say they're really "weighted" either personally as they are about as heavy as a poker chip to me. The only magnetic part is the main flap that keeps the box closed when tramsporting
