Crazy difficult
The game arrived well and complete. However, it's not a game for beginners. It's better if you have played the base versions of the game, or even Black Plague, before you tackle this one. The difficulty is high

A successful installment in the franchise
I am in love with the Zombicide franchise, mostly Black Plague, and Undead or Alive makes me very happy. This is a new favorite for double dates and game nights.

Great game and a great theme.
I love the Zombicide games and this version is one of the best so far. There are so many high-quality miniatures that come in the core box. I bought the game, not only because it's a Zombicide game, but also to use the minis in my Deadlands campaign. This game is well worth the money. My only issue is that the box did not come with the dice like it was supposed to.

What do you get when you cross John Wayne with George Romero?
I'm a newcomer to the Zombicide franchise, and there's enough stuff there to cause a tenderfoot like myself to wonder where to begin. There's a dungeon-themed set, a modern set, an outer-space set, a superhero set... and now a version set in the Old West. This, for me, is a no brainer. American West all the way.Undead or Alive is one of the most recent offerings in the franchise, and because of this it benefits from a streamlined ruleset and a gameplay experience that has been refined over many years of flavors of Zombicide that have come before it. This is a cooperative board game; players must work together to navigate specific goals with a group of 6 "survivors," chosen from a pool of 13, if I remember correctly. All playable characters are fairly unique in their abilities and aesthetic. Killing zombies and accomplishing the mission goals are heavily dependent upon dice rolling and strategic use of the survivors' abilities. Zombies continually spawn, increasing in number, in key areas of the game board, which can quickly overwhelm the players. This gives the game a frantic feel, but also a feeling of accomplishment when you successfully contend with a massive horde of incoming enemies.Undead or Alive can be played solo, or with up to six people. From my little experience, I suggest a group of three people, each controlling 2 survivors. Four and Five-person groups are a bit wonky as there's no away to evenly split up the required 6 survivors that the game is balanced for.I commonly solo play this game, and while it is entirely possible, it can be a challenge to keep track of all six survivors during the course of a turn.Beyond the fun of playing the game, this core box also provides countless hours of miniature painting opportunities as there is a metric ton of figurines within. The game does have a moderate learning curve but I was able to teach my youngster how to play and she can hold her own with minimal support. The theme is pretty violent and one of the core survivors dressed in a very revealing can-can type outfit, so this may not appeal to parents with young children, especially if you plan to paint the figurines in all their exposed-internal-organ-blood-and-bone glory.Ten stand-alone missions are provided in the box, but the modular design of the game will allow players to set up their own custom missions with ease. The included missions are very difficult by Zombicide standards and forces you to play strategically. It is not uncommon to lose a game even after playing for an hour, which can be a real bummer if you hate losing. I appreciate a challenge, so the difficulty does not dissuade me.The price of the core set is considerable; if you are on the fence and have never had a taste of the Zombicide system, I would suggest buying Marvel Zombies: Heroes' Resistance which is a great, inexpensive way to get your feet wet before diving in head-first.

Fun but hard to beat
I enjoy the zombie genre, and the minis, board and accessories, are very well done, but the rules make it very difficult to make it through a session without getting overwhelmed and killed failing the quests. I do enjoy the aspect that I can be played solo easily, it would definitely make for a fun beer and pretzels type game with friends

Awesome game
This game is awesome and has a lot of fun rules and replayability. You can also always play alone if it was not easy to find other people to play with.
