This is a beekeepers' staple for that additional food source for overwintering. Particularly useful as a food supplement when the hive goes through a series of warming and cooling cycles where the bees are particularly active and consuming more energy stores but natural sources aren't yet available.

Have always used these for winter feeding & early spring feeding. Great product, and works!!

Expensive, and kinda thick for placement any other place other than between boxes without queen excluders or inner-boards. I take care of this problem by setting them in the car over the day, and roll them flatter with a rolling pin, or bottle of wine (that is empty already). I'd give this 4 star, 5 if they were flatter/thinner and already in precut 2 pieces per slab instead of having to tear them apart. I also wish they would make the wax paper easier to remove.

These patties are great for boosting brood on hives that have started to struggle and also to get a headstart on the spring build-up.I try to make sure I don't over-offer these because they can attract small hive beetles and ants, if the hive isn't strong. So I cut them to size and make sure to score the paper on both sides with a knife.You also have to seal them in a ziplock or something similar to store them because they can start to mold with moisture from the air.
