NOT A SCAM
My lord, some people should not be allowed on the Internet. This is not a scam. When a CPU is referred to as "box" it means it's the retail-boxed version. It means that it comes in a piece of cardboard with branding on it.This is opposed to an OEM or "tray" version. Tray CPUs are sold in plastic trays. These are cheaper versions made for people who build PCs as a business.This is common nomenclature we've used throughout in the industry since the mid-90s.The CPU is amazing. It has some of the best multithreaded performance of any CPU on the market. Not quite the very best for games because of a (comparatively) low single thread clockspeed. Games aren't optimised for a high degree of parallelism (DoP) so they don't utilise this CPU at all. But it's a server/workstation CPU, not designed for games. Consider the desktop Intel Core i9-13900KS for performance gaming.Once again not a scam. Don't ditch it with poor reviews because you don't understand about PCs.

ITS NOT A SCAM.....
In the world of CPU sales they are described as "box" or "tray"Box meaning the CPU is supplied in full retail BOXED condition eg..in a box branded with all the necessary bumf and leaflets inside.TRAY meaning the CPU is supplied on a plastic tray without any of the retail packaging, just a protective plain box.There is no differance between the CPUs.
