This book takes characters from Ravenshoe and other books in the series and puts them here. You also learn a lot about what happened to Ophelia and CJ as well as how Dr. Jae came to work at Ravenshoe Private.Loved how this book was written and how it plays out. Highly recommend this one as well as the others in this series.

It just wasn’t what I was looking for. This felt more like a thriller/mystery with romance elements to me than an actual romance. It got a little boring for me honestly. I read this as a stand-alone and that’s possible for sure but there were so many interconnected story lines that it would bring me out of the current story a bit to try to remember the people and what was going on.

There really aren’t many author who would tackle this kind of character. A main character with any type of disability. JR is legally deaf and he is absolutely perfection! I applaud Shandi for going this route and I’m here for it!JR is in hiding, for many reasons. He had met Jae a couple time before the crash that landed her on his property, yet she can’t place him until about half way through. At this point they had already built a strong bond. A connection that because apparent each time we looked back in their meetings prior. The first time, Jae saves him, but now, JR is the Savior.Jae being a strong independent woman didn’t take it well when she felt that JR was holding her hostage. But by bit layers were pulled back and she began to see him as the savior he was rather than her captor. I would LOVE to tell you more, but honestly this boom has many twist and turns that you need to read it yourself so I don’t throw in any spoilers!! I also will mention you NEED to pay close attention in this book as there are many small details that make a huge difference!I loved these two together! The love they have isn’t built purely on looks either with is amazing to see in a book. I mean don’t get me wrong, both are beautiful, but both have their scars which makes their love even stronger. Oh and that first time, I love how it was JRs first time and Jae even thought a comment along those lines, but she never knew and he never told her. It made it thy much better 🔥 ⚠️ darker themes noted in this book, including suicide ⚠️

I fell in love with the first part of this book, I thought it might become one of my favorite books. Then I got to the back half, it was very trauma heavy and made the book way more of a thriller than I can get behind. I think if the trauma and mafia actions was more spread out I would like it more. More of a thriller less of a Spivey romance I wanted it to be. Loved the main characters though!

I didn’t know that I need this new release, but if your familiar with Ravenshoe, than you know that this just added to it. Turns out surprising your boyfriend will turn your world upside down in more ways for Jae. It brings back CJ in her life and she doesn’t know if that’s good or bad when everything is coming out and she finds herself in such an unexpected situation. So dark yet addicting the storyline will grab your attention from the start until the end. I loved all the twists and holy delicious heat level that will keep you entertained. A definite must read!

I took a long break on this book after I hit 68%. By that point you are hit with so many flashbacks, you nearly forget what the original plot of the story is. And by the end, you still need to have all those flashbacks explained as to why they are relevant to the circumstances of the characters. The number of characters at the end also left me confused as I had to keep everyone straight.I was excited to see how a deaf character was going to be portrayed in a mafia romance. That part, I think was fine and, in fact, very well done. But the female protagonist, who was relatable at first, quickly devolves into an overbearing and slightly holier than thou in her campaign to right wha she views as injustices in the world. I understand her desire to help, but being inside he head is a yikes. (Taking someone's sperm without their permission because you think you know better than them.)If you like angst and trauma, then this is perfect. If you are looking for a slow burn romance that makes sense, might want to look elsewhere.

I saw this on TikTok and saw a brief plot that immediately caught my attention. I love books that incorporate a "difference" such as in this book deafness. My only note is the storyline can become (in my opinion) a bit in-depth and tricky so I would advise paying attention! But overall loved the story and would highly recommend it!

I have to admit. From the very beginning you are being setup to be taken. Every direction you think you’re going. But as you turn the page, BOOM! This story gets you in from start to finish and leaves you wanting more. Highly recommend reading this book to anyone.

An amazing read. I did not expect this book. This story is completely u expected as JR is legally deaf. He knew of Jae, they had met a few times before she crash landed on his land. But, she doesn’t recognize him.in hiding, for many reasons. They became connected. JR is basically keeping Jae captive but as she get’s over the harshness of it, she starts to see him as the savior he was rather than her captor. So many twists it will knock your socks off. There are a few scenes which almost had me putting the book down as it became too personal for me but I was able to keep going but heed the author’s warnings.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

As usual Shandi draws you into the story easily, it certainly wasn't a storyline I expected but the twists keep you turning pages. However I have some questions lol

I am going to be honest here and admit I was a bit disappointed. Maybe because of how this book was presented in tiktok. I was expecting a romance between a doctor and a mountain man that happened to be deaf, mute and...a virgin😊😬. It did have some hot encounters and a lively epilogue but there was a lot going on in this plot. A lot of information thrown at you from all directions I got a bit confused. I thought I must have missed a page or two because some things didn't make since but I couldn't be bothered. I did gave it a 4* because despite everything, the plot was very intricate and clever.

When I started to read this I was bored but as I got in it got so much better and can’t believe the ending
